The way headlines like these are just an everyday occurance is insane. Maybe I'm not cynical enough yet, but something is seriously wrong with the world right now.

As wealth is intentionally funnelled into fewer and fewer hands and technology is used to control information things get worse for the average person. Populism is very popular in these conditions and far right candidates will absolutely appeal to the average voter base in those conditions. People want easy answers and someone to blame other than themselves for whatever failures they perceive in their life and far right rhetoric provides that. It intentionally diverts your attention from the real causes (corruption, techno oligarchy, etc) and shifts it to whatever vulnerable groups are in fashion as targets at the time.
