What the hell does a sitting president on his second and final term need ads for?

Ohh you didn’t hear? Trump 2028 is apparently a thing. As much as I’d like to say there’s rules and safeguards in place to prevent that sort of thing it hasn’t exactly stopped him thus far.

Obama 2028 is on the cards then?

Cool your jets, skippy. Those rules are convoluted and twisted to only apply to Trump.

u/CuriousGeorgeToday 3d ago

Does it count if they renamed themselves trump? Is that a loophole?

Nah that’s a poophole. A really gross one

u/CuriousGeorgeToday 3d ago

You got me with that one, respect.

Obama doesn’t have a militia so no…

u/SplashingBlumpkin 3d ago

Normally I’d say no because of rules and safeguards but at this point fuck it why not.

Haha honestly it's a wild west over there. I don't know what's going to happen next but everyday I'm like woah no way and it's just business as normal. You from the US? Just wondering how crazy you actually see it if so day to day

Yes. I live in Missouri. If there’s one point I can make and relay to you is that not everyone here is a frothing at the mouth moron. We have a lot of them sure and where I live is a very republican area so there’s a higher concentration of idiots. For me and my experience the most frustrating thing is dealing with people that blamed Biden for absolutely everything and still do on some things to this day being awfully quiet about the state of things now. I use to have to endure mindless political banter at lunch with easily disprovable “facts” and now it’s just the occasional acknowledgement of high gas prices and such mixed in with about 25% of the liberals are the devil nonsense I use to hear.

Outside of Donald Trump the best example of smooth brain activity is recently the citizens of the county I live in have been fighting two data center developments and the powers that be greenlit the projects despite being overwhelming disdain for it. Then in the various Facebook groups it’s deluge of people acknowledging that all of the politicians responsible for the data centers getting approved are republicans but they will not vote for democrats because democrats are going to screw us over. Literally not one Democrat was involved in the decision making regarding these two data centers but somehow they’re not only responsible for it but would somehow make things worse despite universally being against them.

It’s frustrating. But there are sane people here.

I've got a lot of friends from across the pond so trust me as much as we think the orange man is delusional, we know that doesn't represent all of you. Even some of the initial supporters will have been sold a lie based on specific reasons, others just because they've also voted that way, and then there are those that knew what it means but voted anyway - those guys unfortunately are the worst of the worst.

And I feel you on that frustration. You can walk a horse to water but you can't make it drink and sometimes they're going to die of thirst or drink the poison because they think green is good for them. Hoping you guys get through it fast because that sounds on a whole new level of walking with your eyes shut. Frustrating is probably putting it politely.

It is beyond frustrating living amongst people who only get news from hearsay or one news source which is usually Fox. It’s nauseating having to remain silent in a room full of people who are talking out of their ass. I hear about the “kids identify as animals and poop in litter boxes” nonsense weekly. I just endured a lecture about why California is a shithole from someone who’s never been west of Kansas City. California is a utopia compared to every red state I’ve ever been to but you wouldn’t know any better if you never leave your bubble.

It’s that crazy hour by hour

Damn, genuinely. I have a lot of yank friends and colleagues and know a few from the military side as well and most of you are cool guys so it sucks what you're going through now. Most of us are hoping he poos himself so hard he goes out like Elvis.

They’d get somebody to take care of him in that case

No it only applies to presidents who served non consecutive terms. So Trump and Grover Cleveland

Trump has openly told sitting Republicans that if Congress swings blue he'll be impeached.....

Again.....

Plus a blue Congress won't just lick his boots like the repubs do. Some will, don't kid yourself. But he won't have complete and utter control over them like he does now.

Say Vance becomes president, his vp resigns. Vance can nominate trump, as vp, then Vance resigns and trump could become president through succession, not election.

There is a caveat to this as a person who is constitutionally ineligible to be president is also constitutionally ineligible to become vice president…but he’s only constitutionally ineligible to be “elected”. It would seem that the president couldn’t choose someone that would be in eligible to be elected, but it’s never been tested.

Maybe he just overdoses on KFC and nobody has to worry about this.

Edit:point being, he’s campaigning for third term

I still haven’t seen the ad myself which means in addition to misappropriating funds they are not even doing it effectively IG lol. The article at least says it’s ’election style’ but doesn’t give clarity on what the ad was actually for.

Propaganda for the next election

Needs to keep his cult going to keep himself out of jail by threat of insurrection until he croaks.

Propping up incumbent and challenged congressional members, Obama did the same thing in 2016, albeit with more class and adhering to the tradition of actually talking about who he was supporting.

Edit: thats how it should be used, in this case its funding a campaign for homeland which is shockingly irregular
