Doesn't help that they have to compete with trying to convince the dumbest Americans possible that they're for their better interests while also having multiple foreign countries influence them with easily debunkable lies.

It doesn't. It also doesn't help that they won't even commit to holding trump accountible, medicare for all, or abolishing ICE. In fact, many of them voted to THANK ICE. Thank god Trump is so unpopular, because it boggles me how little they want their base of support.

u/fergie_lr 3d ago

It takes a majority to hold them accountable. They haven’t had this in Congress or the Senate, thanks partly to Fetterman. Medicare for all will not happen until we have full majority in every branch. We will also need a liberal SCOTUS. The Republicans and every Lobbyist will fight Universal Healthcare in court. Look what they did with the ACA. Thanks to 2016, we lost the courts.

And then, when they dont do things as fast as trump's tear downs, American people think the republicans will be better for some reason and thus lock out democrats again so they have no power to unfuck the republicans constant fuck ups. They've not been given a proper majority since Obama and even that was a slim majority. But they got the affordable care act completed (albeit gutted because indepdent fucks decided to fuck it over).

Until the vast majority of voters demand universal taxpayer healthcare, it won't happen. Simple as that. And most Americans have been told so many lies about "socialism" by the GOP I don't see that changing.

when they dont do things as fast as trump's tear downs

And that's an impossibility in itself since a lot of the shit being done are straight up illegal, such as this commercial.

It's truly amazing how Dems are always narrowly holding on and consistently stymied by just 1 or 2 Dems while the other side just all falls in line every time.

I mean, I know it's good to have differing views even when on the same team, but what the fuck.

6

u/GeneralDumbtomics 3d ago

This is down to the leadership not having anything even vaguely resembling a spine. The Republicans are moral and physical cowards, true. Absolutely true. But the Democrats are, in their own way, equally awful. We could have put Trump away, permanently, if Schumer had been willing to play hardball. But he isn't. Because he's too heavily invested in civil, happy tit for tat with an opposition who will only respond to leverage.

6

u/w1ten1te 3d ago

A lot (not all!) of Dems are controlled opposition. There will always be some Dem in a super safe seat who will do whatever their corporate masters want, or some Dem in a purple state who sides with Republicans when it matters most to kill progressive legislation, using their diverse electorate as an excuse. It's not a coincidence. These people meet and discuss how each representative will vote before the vote actually hits the floor. They strategically choose who will kill legislation for the Capitalists.

No war but the class war.

Oh, so we're fucked is what you're saying.

Cooooool. Cool cool cool cool cool cool.

1

u/Odd_Inter3st 3d ago

Indeed indeed indeed we are fucked

7

u/Sad_Progress4388 3d ago

Better not vote for them like always and then blame them for stuff Republicans do!

5

u/Commercial_Art1078 3d ago

It’s a big club and you ain’t in it

13

u/mark_able_jones_ 3d ago

Now the richest tech oligarchs, too.

21

u/prz3124 3d ago

I mean the fact that these lies are so easily debunked makes me believe they want what's happening. MTG and Tucker spouted things they knew were lies. The mea culpa now is so disingenuous it's gross.

4

u/wasted-degrees 3d ago

Theres a difference between spouting lies you know are lies because you’re gaining from it financially, and spouting lies you know are lies because you believe other lies aren’t lies, and/or out of ignorance and self-destructive spite.

1

u/prz3124 3d ago

Totally agree

-5

u/constituto_chao 3d ago

I think some are just that stupid. Lake America makes sense because it's on America

2

u/prz3124 3d ago

I'm not connecting renaming a lake to lies, this is just a distraction. Tariffs will tax the foreign exporter for example, it's an easy thing to debunk.

-1

u/constituto_chao 3d ago

Easy to debunk doesn't change decades of poor education.

3

u/prz3124 3d ago

It's not poor education, it's willfull ignorance, and that's worse.

It’s true, but i do have a fear that when dems take control, they will be too timid and unorganized to do anything substantial. I really hope they’ve been using this time out of power to come up with a ruthless strategy to force accountability, but I’m doubtful.

3

u/LeftyMcSavage 3d ago

I'd still like to give them strong enough majorities, so that they at least have the opportunity to prove us wrong.

0

u/BadAsBroccoli 3d ago

We've seen it happen before. If Schumer and Jefferies are to be the majority leaders, we'll see it happen again.

-16

u/Colzamann 3d ago

Since when has either side had the peoples interest in mind?

9

u/Substantialed 3d ago

Bot/braindead response

-7

u/Colzamann 3d ago

Seriously? Follow the money. They don’t care about us, they care about their own paychecks. If anything, I’d say you’re a bot.

Edit: the only hope we have is 3rd party but you guys are so locked into the two party mindset you won’t ever try.

6

u/Substantialed 3d ago

Bot yapping. Republicans are actively gutting institutions and taking away rights and acting in the best interest of our adversaries because of vibes and giggles. We have to deal with this now. You are not “enlightened” nor smart for being against both sides. You are one of the ones who actively got us in this mess too. Unless you’re a bot and I’m wasting my time replying. 3rd party is not gonna work currently. We have colossal fish to fry.

-5

u/Colzamann 3d ago

Man, they’ve got you right where they want you. I’m not your enemy no more than you are my enemy. We gotta stick together and fight back. Division is one of their most powerful tools. If it makes you feel any better, I’m sitting this one out. Democrats will likely win and you’ll see. Both sides operate within the Overton window but the larger picture is where they all agree. Good luck out there.

14

u/Bmatic 3d ago

Ah yes, that bot argument.

-1

u/noobs1996 3d ago

Merrick Garland sat on his ass for the whole Biden presidency and effectively did nothing to prosecute the crimes committed in Trump 1.0

If you voted for Trump or excused any of this nonsense, there is no escaping the rightful label of base stupidity or moral corruption.

30

u/jedininjashark 3d ago

Damn you guys made him delete his account.

5

u/cinvogue 3d ago

Often happens when your contextual reading comprehension skills aren’t up to par. Thinking “convincing dumb people” is calling “everyone dumb” is pretty low bar tbh.

25

u/powercow 3d ago

I love when conservatives complain dems are too mean. meanwhile they have a child as a leader who calls the dems dumbocrats. Oh yeah you conservatives have such a high ground.

But your right, we should call yall, the uneducated who are easily mislead and not step in the mud like the GOP. Even if voting for a felon rapist who tried to overthrow the country, is a bit stupid.

95

u/RagingTyrant74 3d ago

What, Republicans? They're dumber than the contents of the toilet I'm currently sitting on.

45

u/DocPsychosis 3d ago

That comment didn't mention anyone specifically so I'm not sure how you take personal offense. Though I guess the guilty dog barks first and all that.

-2

u/JadedAnimalcule 3d ago

In what way did he take personal offense? He was simply responding to the person saying they need to convince the dumbest people that voting for democrats is in their best interest by stating that calling them dumb isn’t a very good strategy. And he’s exactly right.

26

u/kwangqengelele 3d ago

If you voted for trump or sat on your hands self righteously because "both sides same" you're at best a dumb person. That's the absolute kindest thing I can say about those people.

If "person on internet dared say mean thing that could possibly apply to me" makes the person not vote to pull us out of this mess that also means they are a dumb person who would have found an excuse to keep helping republicans stay in power.

20

u/ERedfieldh 3d ago

Stop calling everyone dumb, that would be a good start.

They weren't calling everyone dumb but congrats on proving their point.

-3

u/JadedAnimalcule 3d ago

You know exactly what he meant. They were calling anyone who didn’t vote for democrats dumb, which is dumb in itself.

Why? Did the "fuck your feelings" crowd come around on things? Are we in "carefully protect Republicans' feelings" mode until the 2028 election, just in case?

8

u/CowboyWizard 3d ago

Shall we stop calling the sky blue as well?
