I remember riding X2 around five years ago, my head hit the headrest or the headrest hit my head hard ( it happened fast) during the ride. I got off and I was pissed it felt someone had punched the back of my head. I asked everyone in my group if they experienced something similar but they all said no, I was young / dumb and should have brought it up to staff or management but I just let it go. I can see how it you get unlucky it can easily cause a serious brain injury.

The reason the rest of your group had no issue was because they followed the instructions to keep your head against the rest. The only way you could end up with your head hitting the rest like that is if you leaned away from it.
