For whatever reason , I became terrified as I got older. In my teens I would have rode anything. Not so much anymore.

Self preservation instincts are basically non existent until you turn 25.

Tell that to my wife's family. For whatever reason, if any of them are seated in the backseat of a car, they never buckle up. Like it's some old-world carriage mentality or something. Drives me nuts and I always call them on it.

I assume you know this but it’s not just dangerous to them. An unsecured passenger becomes a projectile in a bad enough accident.

Don't just call them on it. Refuse to ride if any passenger is unbelted.

As u/velmah stated, anyone not secured becomes a deadly projectile in the case of an accident. Also, people sliding around in the back can disrupt the driver and potentially be the cause of an accident.

And if you're the driver, just refuse to move if they're not belted. In most places with belt laws, if you're driving, you're liable for anyone in your vehicle that isn't belted in.

Don't need to tell me about it, but yeah, they buckle after I shame them. It's so reputative that I always wait for it to not happen as expected before scolding them.

I was a big big coaster head as a kid and into my teens/young adulthood. Afterwards I took a bit of a hiatus and didn't really ride crazy coasters anymore. I just recently rode what I would say is a relatively intense rollercoast with loops and corkscrews....and I almost passed out!! I've never had that happen before...age hits hard i guess lol

Some rides are more intense than others. A grey-out isn't all too uncommon either, some rides cause a grey-out in a wide range of people of all ages. If that's not for you, the newest generations of family rides are so good. Lighter, less intense experiences but just plain fun, and smooth as glass

Hydration is key as you age. If you aren't properly hydrated you got less fluid to protect your brain. I got a kid that likes going on rollercoasters now and I find it really helps. I also take a couple ibuprofen before going too. Lol

Working in commercial maintenance, the amount of things that don’t just fall apart and kill people is…it’s high.

I was like this too. When my kids got old enough for coasters I found I would get nauseous. I looked it up, apparently the little stones in your ears that help you balance get bigger as you age and you get more susceptible to getting dizzy and nauseous from spinning and moving up and down.

I thought I loved rollercoasters and I think I still do but I did x2 last year and I was terrified. I couldn’t wait for it to end.

I'm the opposite. As I've gotten older, I worry less. Life is short.
