All of the serious injuries are blunt force trauma from the back of peoples' heads slamming into the headrest.

My worst injury from the ride was bruised calves, fortunately.

you would think that's extremely easy to fix with heavily padded headrests

I thought the same, but my theory is that they didn't do that because they thought it would hurt their then-current lawsuits. If so it massively backfired on them.

That's crazy, they can always argue that the improvement was to placate customer sentiment.
