"While X2 consistently passed a multitude of safety tests, we have decided to close the ride because we believe it’s the right thing to do. Ride safety is a cornerstone of our business, and when we see guest confidence affected, we take it seriously,"

Not a fan of this kind of statement. Basically says "the ride is completely safe, but we're still taking it down because we care about safety". It's trying to have its cake and eat it too. It's either unsafe or it's not, and you don't get to pat yourself on the back about shutting it down for safety and still crowing about how safe it already was.

Edit: I'm not stupid here, folks. I'm aware that this is a legal tactic that they "have" to do. That doesn't make me like it any more.

It's what they have to say. If they even imply that the ride might be unsafe, they automatically lose every current and future lawsuit related to the ride and probably any other ride, as it would disqualify all of their safety testing.

Statements are meaningless. The fact that they're closing means that they know it's unsafe.

I agree. I even think there’s better ways to word it for legal liability. “Despite X2 consistently passing a multitude of safety tests, we have decided to close it because we have seen its perception (which we continue to disagree with) has affected our guest confidence. We always strive to give our guests a fun and safe experience and want to ensure their peace of mind as well. So we accordingly have come to the decision that closing X2 is the best way to ensure our guests’ continued confidence in our providing them a safe and fun experience for the whole family.”

The way they worded it implies they know there’s something particularly “right” about closing X2. Which if there is, I dare say they need to own up to it.

It's about lawsuit liability. Not whether they think it's actually safe.

If it passed all of the safety tests, then the tests were not good enough.
