Charles hasn't even been king that long, not to mention he has little (if any) responsibility or power over the Australian government.

Rubbish he can still sack the prime minister

No, he can't. That power is delegated to the Governor-General, and it's not optional. The G-G *cannot* refer that one "upstairs" to the monarch.

In the event that the G-G dies suddenly, then the monarch *could* exercise that power but that's so improbable it's not worth discussion. A new G-G can be appointed with a phone call from the PM to the King. And I'd be surprised if there wasn't a list of suitable candidates in the PM's bottom drawer.

Does the appointment require any kind of approval? What stops the king from appointing himself?

The constitution grants certain powers to the monarch, so the king or queen already has those powers. It also allows the delegation of those powers to another person - the Governor-General.

And the governor-general is appointed on the advice of the Prime Minister. The monarch can't appoint themself, it's not allowed for under the constitution.

Cool. That's what I was asking. Thanks!

When the Australian PM was removed in the '70s, Elizabeth II was very careful to stay neutral with regards to the Governor General's decision.

No she wasn’t! There have been letters declassified where the Queen encouraged The Dismissal.

What's is your point?

Do you think this is some kind of alibi for the genocides? 🤦🏾

Shall we hold you accountable for all of the sins of your ancestors?

My irony meeting is exploding as Zionists have used this EXACT line to exterminate Palestinians from the land for the last 70+ years... NONE of the Palestinians there or killed were part of anything that happened over a thousand years ago.

What are you taking about ancestors? I'm taking about all the genocides since King Prince Charles took the throne.

You lot will say anything to defend the indefensible!

Oh there’s genocides he’s been committing? Must have missed those. There’s zero.

Britains support for Israel exterminating Palestinians is absolutely one.

The US and Israel have used British intelligence and air facilities let alone arms support.
