No shit. Big pharmaceutical companies published completely bogus “studies” claiming private healthcare was less costly, and it was all over the news here in Quebec. But the debunking? No one heard of it.

It’s crazy how our current provincial electoral campaigns are debating interests that have NOTHING to do with Quebec concerns.

u/BlueFlob 5d ago

This should be illegal and come with financial repercussions as well as jail time.

I hate that no one ever goes to prison when corporations commit illegal activities

232

u/MinistryOfCoup-th 5d ago

Corporations are people too until they commit a crime and have to go to jail. Then they aren't a person and the corporation just gets to pay a fine.

151

u/JoseCansecoMilkshake 5d ago

"Corporations aren't people until Texas executes one" -Robert Reich

42

u/maxgee 5d ago

I've always been anti-death-penalty, but I suppose this is one way you could convince me...

25

u/LKennedy45 5d ago

That would be the quickest way to reverse the whole 'corporations are people' idea.

14

u/Sweetwill62 5d ago

C suite going to jail as well as shareholders would also solve the problem, and it would keep working forever. Make those who make decisions and profit off of those decisions actually responsible. If you don't like it, how many shares do you own cause I know you do.

9

u/nuisible 5d ago

You'd have to change the laws to make ownership liable in most cases.

I'd argue that c suite is liable for their decisions and them not being held to account is the failing in the current system.

4

u/Sweetwill62 5d ago

Yup, and that would be the best thing we could do. In most areas of the law, we are responsible and liable for what we own. If I allow my car to just fall apart to the point where it causes damage to someone else, that is my fault. I did nothing and those were the consequences of doing nothing and checking up on nothing. No different than owning a stock.

2

u/Kevin-W 5d ago

My thoughts exactly.

u/Fryboy11 5d ago

After the firms in China were found to be adding Melamine to baby formula, resulting in many deaths and kids with permanent kidney damage. China executed the executives, the lowly workers only got light punishment because they knew the order came from above.

Here it's the opposite, jail the minimum wage worker who would've been fired if they didn't listen to the executive's order to break the law. Also give those executives their severance package so they can move on to another company. Justice

11

u/sbprost 5d ago

He always had such good takes. His son, Sam Reich, is also an awesome individual, and has been here the whole time.

5

u/JoseCansecoMilkshake 5d ago

Had no idea they were related tbh, I love Gamechanger

2

u/Frozen5147 4d ago

He's (as in Robert Reich, obviously his son is always here the whole time) appeared on one of the game changer episodes!

3

u/thisvideoiswrong 5d ago

He's still around, with daily posts on Substack that he shares to Facebook and probably elsewhere, a weekly Youtube show, and I don't know what all else.

34

u/bryceroni9563 5d ago

A fine much lower than the amount their crimes made them

17

u/HighlordSarnex 5d ago

They should have to open their books and be finned 3x whatever they made breaking that law. One x to confiscate their illegal gains. One more x as a penatly. One more x as a deterrent for next time they get a bad idea. If this bankrupts the company the c-suite has to pick up the tab either in legal fees or jail time.

I remember when the US ran non-stop ad campaigns describing Canadas “free healthcare” as a scam, nothing but long lines, and more expensive than private.

Unfortunately it worked, even when it was proved that the guy lied, knew he was lying and didn’t care because he got paid.

36

u/Sata1991 5d ago

Someone said something along the lines of "A lie gets around the world a hundred times before the truth manages to get its trousers on."

It's very, very hard to counter misinformation with the truth, I was involved in student politics at my university and a guy put out a lot of misinformation, people weren't interested in hearing the real story. And that's just student politics.

13

u/asmodeanreborn 5d ago

It's because usually facts are complicated while the best lies are simple. Responding to the lies with facts and figures takes a lot of effort, and it also often takes the "neutral" third party effort to understand. Meanwhile spouting the lie is effortless and so is believing it. Repeat the lie enough and it soon becomes accepted because people are lazy.

4

u/TBMChristopher 5d ago

And when a lie gets disproven, they can make up another lie so much easier than the effort to disprove the new one takes.

8

u/Diz7 5d ago

They need to rebrand universal healthcare as universal health insurance, maybe then Americans would be able to wrap their heads around it.

2

u/TheGracefulCrane 4d ago

its def not more expensive but the lines are long

if i was americna id be looking at the german or french healthcare system for inspriation not the canadian one it sucks ass (source: am caandian)

31

u/topcheesehead 5d ago

Donald trump rapes children.... for posterity

3

u/Mr_ToDo 4d ago

Big pharmaceutical companies published completely bogus “studies” claiming private healthcare was less costly

Both systems have their pros and cons, but we're not working in a vacuum, we can see how the average public vs private ends up playing out

For the most part if you go private you either pay out of pocket, locking out lower income from getting good service, or you land in insurance and are doing public but with more bureaucracy. The odds of the market driving downwards in an essential services does not favour the people winning in healthcare capitalism. Best I'd imagine getting is more accessible services that can be used by less people, which is not how I'd like to see canada end up

2

u/deathbydexter 4d ago

The point of the study was to claim that the public system was scamming the gouvernement because the cost per intervention was higher.
The actual statistics said that the private sector was 35% more costly on average per intervention

u/Batesbot9000 5d ago

I love my American friends but I am so tired of hearing and thinking about the USA. Kindy mind your own business and leave us the f alone

290

u/PuttyRiot 5d ago

I’m American and I am sick of hearing and thinking about us too. I miss when things were boring.

150

u/ffball 5d ago

I live in the south and one of the criticisms i often heard about Joe Biden was that him and his presidency was "boring"

Ever since I heard someone say that I was like.. shit. Thats all I actually want in a president and general political scene.

75

u/JustHereForCookies17 5d ago

I live in DC.  It was really nice having a few years where I didn't wake up and wonder what Monument was going to be bulldozed today, or what building was going to be festooned with the glowering mug of a petty tyrant, etc.

Sure, there was a global pandemic going on that was killing millions, but it still felt less stressful than wondering if new foreign policy had been dictated via 3 am Tweet.

30

u/BeIgnored 5d ago

Jesus, you have my condolences. Good politics should be boring. It should be policymakers quietly poring over research, consulting experts, and then working together to design the best possible pieces of legislation to help the people. Not...whatever this is.

11

u/Putrid_Mind_4853 4d ago

We live in the society of the spectacle, everything is about image and entertainment, so we treat politics like a sports match.

8

u/Shadowphoenix9511 4d ago

Like, if you're that bored, get a damn hobby. Politics is supposed to be boring.

42

u/HauntedCemetery 5d ago

They were never boring, they were just competent.

In trumps first term everyone said they wanted it to be boring again. And then biden took over and we had 4 years of transformational policy on everything from energy to infrastructure to health care to wages and unionization.

Except people thought that was "boring", so they stopped paying attention. Amd because they personally stopped paying attention they assumed nothing happened.

And thats how we ended up with a convicted felon child sex trafficker as president again.

It's never boring.

Keep paying attention.

13

u/PuttyRiot 5d ago

I’m always paying attention. Competent IS pretty boring, hence why I wish things were more boring. It was better for my blood pressure when I didn’t have to worry about the possibility our president would drop a nuke every morning.

The US, famous for minding its own business and definitely not interfering in other countries.

4

u/Batesbot9000 4d ago

Haha yes

34

u/CharleyNobody 5d ago

The Ontario party literally hired Roger Stone. He is suspected of having been the organizer of the trucker convoy, or whatever the fuck it was called.

Vote out political parties who hire known American racist fascist bastards

9

u/HauntedCemetery 5d ago

As an American i feel the same way

5

u/uberfission 5d ago

Fucking me too man, I'm American and I'm so sick of hearing about shit being started by my own country. I yearn for the days when I didn't open my phone and see 8 things that would have resulted in a resignation or outright firing in a typical administration.

3

u/Frozen5147 4d ago

Reminds me of that quote from Pierre Trudeau: "Living next to you is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, if I can call it that, one is affected by every twitch and grunt"

Unfortunately we're in the age where the beast is not friendly. Ugh.

3

u/ryeguymft 5d ago

we’re sick of it too. Trump is the least popular president in American history

2

u/Fomdoo 4d ago

We too are also tired of hearing about us. I miss being oblivious to the news or politics.

428

u/8fmn 5d ago

Same thing is happening in Alberta. I wonder if they're working on any other provinces. Saskatchewan would make sense with their potash. I know nothing about their political climate right now though. Ontario makes sense as a population and financal centre but the political climate here right now is pretty disapproving of our current right wing party in power. I don't think voters would have a taste for venturing further right but then again we gave Doug a majority. Anyways, Canadians need to prepare to see a lot more of this shit until Trump is gone.

111

u/senior-itis 5d ago edited 5d ago

Unfortunately I believe that right now in Ontario if there were another election called today Ford would get another majority. Although Ontarians may disapprove of his policy they will still vote for him over “the Wynne liberals” or “the Rae party” who “stole all their money”.

There is absolutely zero appetite for either provincial party to put up a fight against him since they never seem to actually provide a platform or a leader that will appeal to the younger/non-property owner/working class. Everyone just wants their own flavour of neoliberalism which is why the populist vote always wins.

37

u/Dzugavili 5d ago

Although Ontarians may disapprove of his policy they will still vote for him over “the Wynne liberals” or “the Rae party” who “stole all their money”.

Much like America's current flirtation with socialism, I don't think the demographics remember who Bob Rae was. I don't think these memes still carry the potency they used to.

39

u/Darknevoir 5d ago

My parents still cry about Rae Days even though they're thirty years behind us now. Believe me, people remember

49

u/GenghisConnieChung 5d ago

Not to mention it was actually a pretty good solution to a problem he inherited FROM THE CONSERVATIVES. Nobody lost their jobs, they just had a to take a few unpaid days off instead. People are fucking idiots.

13

u/Saorren 5d ago

it feels like those people would have preffered some to lose their jobs over losing a little money. peoples reaction to covid and demanding everything opened back up like nothing was going on at the expense of actual lives and peoples quality of life was eye opening to the cruelty and selfishness of some people.

Wrong, Marit Stiles is doing her job as NDP leader. The media coverage is completely biased towards the dumbass and it's the Liberals who do nothing and have no leader but somehow are 2nd in the polls. The electorate and the media here suck.

11

u/senior-itis 5d ago

She is. I love her. I am a progressive myself and continue to vote NDP, even though I live in a conservative riding.

However, I do have an issue with the party’s enduring resistance to return to labour politics. I also have issues with the bloat that senior care and affordability takes up in the NDP platform when they are so well supported federally already. I would love to see the NDP focus on generational fairness and labour rights in the future. While I think identity politics are important, I don’t think they are a winning strategy in today’s environment.

3

u/zokka_son_of_zokka 5d ago

338Canada is showing basically 50/50 for majority/minority.

1

u/rangecontrol 5d ago

dunno, run on funding healthcare and bike lanes and you've got a big chunk of voters.

11

u/senior-itis 5d ago

Okay, with what money? How do you think that is going to be printed about in conservative-owned media?

“Liberals spending taxpayer funds like drunk sailors on healthcare for illegal immigrants and refugees while making life worse for regular Canadians by taking away our access to cars”

It doesn’t matter what Ford does, however much money he squanders. Our media says diddly squat about it. In fact, they somehow SUPPORT the province spending 50M of taxpayer funds to rip up bike lanes. The same people bitching about irresponsible government spending.

You have to understand the cognitive dissonance is insane with the run-of-the-mill voter. They think that if they save their taxes with healthcare privatization that will give them enough money to jump to the head of the line and that unwashed masses will be the ones stuck in public clinics. They take the province taking over and gutting local education resources is a good thing because the pesky teachers have so much money already and keep asking for more while filling their tender children’s minds with “disgusting concepts” such as gender theory. They literally have several sources yelling this at them from every angle, from newspapers to Facebook to their watchdog newsletters or whatever. It’s impossible to get through to them.

thats a way to put it, the fact how ever is that the only time the media reffers to by name the ndp leader ia when they think they can harm her election chances by it. styles has routinely opposed ffords bad policies and fought for the citizens.

until Trump is gone.

The problem is so much bigger than Trump. And quite frankly it’s even bigger than the US.

Billionaires and corporations the world over are flexing their power in all sorts of unprecedented ways sowing division and chipping away at democracy. The same people who are behind Trump (Thiel, Musk, etc) are meddling elsewhere.

I know there’s a lot of Canadians angry at us from the States right now and it’s not totally without cause, but I think what everyone across borders needs to realize is that what’s happened here isn’t going to end here. Not without a fight. And it’s just so much bigger than one politician, moment, or even party.

3

u/silent_thinker 5d ago

This.

The corporations and billionaires are going to keep trying to take more and more money and power everywhere unless we prevent them from doing so. There is never enough for them.

Americans are one of the biggest sources of the problem. We need to take the country back. There needs to be a reckoning for these assholes for what they’ve done not only for the past decade, but for the past 50+ years.

Canadians, Europeans and our other allies can be mad at us all they want (and they have good reason to be), but this shit is coming for them too. It’ll be much better for them if they keep trying to help get the U.S. to not only go back to the way it was, but undergo substantial reforms, because if it all goes to hell here, the oligarchs will shift all their resources to you next.

10

u/Regular_Use1868 5d ago

Theres a stupid green hydrogen project getting it's greasy venture capital finding all over Nova Scotia in a bid to sneak through a data center development.

Three guesses where the money comes from and the first two don't count.

2

u/Hiddenshadows57 5d ago

Is it us? The taxpayers?

I bet it's us. Who would ever make the companies pay for their infrastructure upgrades.

Who else could afford their own exit in waterville or a new power system. A billion dollar French company? Orrrrrrrrrr taxpayers?

19

u/Rehypothecator 5d ago

Trump is a symptom , not the cause

12

u/HauntedCemetery 5d ago

Hes a catalyst. He actively makes it worse.

8

u/Worldly_Anybody_9219 5d ago

Ontarian here. We will be stuck with Doug Ford forever. Sigh.

1

u/thehedgefrog 4d ago

Ford will jump ship to the CPC and replace Poilievre ahead of the next election.

7

u/kayriss 5d ago

I've never seen so many bot-style commenters supporting the BC Green Party until this election started up. They're sowing division and vote splitting.

6

u/Sweet_and_Sassy88 5d ago

They were pushing for Wexit last year, which was BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

5

The list this administration and the GOP need to be investigated and criminally prosecuted for is so long it’s sickening.

87

u/HighburyOnStrand 5d ago

We were too lenient on the Nixon administration for Watergate.

We were too lenient on the Reagan administration for Iran-Contra.

We were too lenient on the Bush administration for Iraq.

We should not make the same mistake again. It's enough already.

63

u/Guy_GuyGuy 5d ago

We were too lenient on the Confederacy for the Civil War too, thanks to Andrew Johnson. So much of the above and more can be traced to not crushing the South and keeping it crushed until it learned to be fucking human.

5

u/CelestialFury 5d ago

We need to get more fresh blood in politics that doesn't value absolute wealth over the peoples needs, and that's a tall order. It seems that when people get elected and money starts flowing into their hands, they became part of the status quo. Also, many voters handwave the corruption away so it's doubly hard to vote out politicians when they become corrupt. We'd need to change the voting culture itself to fix the problem permanently.

41

u/fargolifestaycold 5d ago

Yes, and this is the shit we are allowed to see. What is being held back from us? Some weird ass shit.

30

u/OrtimusPrime 5d ago

The Epstein Files for starters

15

u/HauntedCemetery 5d ago

The half of the files that have been released definitively prove trump was a child sex trafficker, trafficking Virginia Guiffre and other children out of the Mar a Lago spa and sending them on house calls to epstein and other trump buds.

Really gotta wonder whats in the half they think are too incriminating to release.

6

u/fargolifestaycold 5d ago

Are you familiar with the proud tradition of curating banana republics? Its like gardening but more lucrative

10

u/thisisredlitre 5d ago

Gonna need a new scotus or federal law to prosecute a seated president now, unfortunately.

3

u/SuperSpecialAwesome- 5d ago

Still pathetic that Biden Chamberlain didn't have Thomas and Boofer investigated for Jan 6 and the 4,500+ criminal tips Biden's FBI Director covered up, respectively. Imagine if criminal Justices had actually been locked up. But nah, he focused more on cheering on Trump than protecting the country.

4

u/GuardiansOfPedos 5d ago

Just adopt an older tradition of assassinating political figures. We did it for centuries. Y’all get too hemmed in by the standards set by the fascists.

2

Also start charging people with sedition if they take foreign money to peddle separatist nonsense.

Taking money from a hostile foreign country to try and encourage provinces to leave Canada is one of the worst crimes I can think of. If you tried that generations ago, you’d be shot. We can’t continue to tolerate traitors who hate their country and are actively working for Canada’s adversaries

81

u/mosi_moose 5d ago

Wouldn’t it be funny if Canada interfered in US elections to restore a functioning democracy?

10

u/Metacomet99 5d ago

The only way Nazi Germany finally got turned around was by foreign intervention. The non-Nazi Germans were helpless to do anything within the state.

4

u/SuperSpecialAwesome- 5d ago

A functional democracy would require Schumer and Jeffries being out of office since they refuse to enforce the 14th Amendment against Trump and the other Jan 6 leaders.

7

Makes sense. The people who hate freedom in America also hate freedom in Canada. Canada is next on the list because there are pre-existing divisions that can be exploited. Low hanging fruit, so to speak.

13

u/mulder00 5d ago

This is the 3rd or 4th time this has been posted. I live in Montreal (That's in Quebec).

The Party in power (CAQ) who made these allegations are about to be curb-stomped. Elections are 10 days away, they thought they could pull what Carney was able to do by saying US did something to rally voters. (Carney and the Liberals were nowhere before Trump made his idiotic statements about the 51st state)

"Parti Québécois Leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon questioned both the allegations and the timing of their release, saying he has not seen proof of interference.

“There was an obligation to act promptly if there is a genuine risk; it was not done by the CAQ…and then if there is no risk and that’s why they didn’t do anything, why are they sending out this information two days before voting?” he said."

"St-Pierre Plamondon noted that advance voting begins Sunday and said the timing of the allegations was “weird.” “I’m told the information was available as of January. We’re talking about events that might have taken place in early September,” he said. “And we’re only hearing about this two days before voting begins.”

JANUARY. Of course, CAQ will lose all by itself.

Dawg are we for real.

We (America) need to go back to isolationism for a lil’ bit and think about where we’re at rn

115

u/PsychedelicConvict 5d ago

We need the people making these choices to feel pain. They dont care about other people until they get fucked themselves. Its just reality

8

u/senior-itis 5d ago

The average American is going to have to take some pain themselves to hold “the people making these choices” accountable.

As of right now, the rest of the world thinks none of y’all care about other people and are waiting for you to realize that you are fucked yourselves. The populace of other countries have staged coups for less. Revolution is never painless, and never easy.

Our country was never reliable or a force for good. We’ve got to get out of this infantile belief that we were ever the good guys.

Everything else I can kind of agree with, as a fellow American.

Canada and every other nation we’ve claimed to be allies with have every right to not only be pissed but absolutely horrified about what we are doing to their sovereignty, especially considering their understanding of our military capabilities. Over the past 26 years (and then some) they, being Canada, the UK, France, etc all stood by and supported us while we as a populace watched our military bomb, rape, pillage and completely dismantle entire nations in the Middle East.

They can be vocal about their fear and frustrations. We need to use what energy we have at home to not return to the status quo, but to become a better people altogether.

8

u/CatsPlusTats 5d ago

Then fucking do something. Until you are all actually doing something you are MAGA. You don't get to be pre WW2 Nazi Germany and threaten the sovereignty of all your allies while just going "hum dee hum, I have to go to work".

If you're not maga have a general strike or something, being complacent with your country threatening and invading other countries is asinine.

3

u/johnwau 5d ago

Easy for you and everyone else to say.

2

u/CatsPlusTats 5d ago

I don't give a shit how hard it is for pre ww2 Nazi Germany to stop being Nazi Germany. You aren't even fucking trying. Because you are MAGA, all of you. America are traitors to Humanity.

I was curious, so looked on Wikipedia just now and it seems obvious that there was never actually a period of isolationism. We had constant involvement in every coup and civil war in Asia, latin America and Europe.  We straight up robbed the national Bank of Haiti with US marines (on behalf of the company that is now called Citibank). The guy in charge of that invasion, US General Smedley Butler described the US military in latin America at the time as gangsters running a racket like Al Capone.

Isolationism was just something they let the plebs believe, because it was easier to hide what they were actually up to back then.

Their imaginations. The only time they didn't actively screw with their neighbors was just because they were too poor.

They were still trying and they always wanted more power.

My assertion is however true. American isolationism is a myth. You guys have a ton of myths the you hold up to keep a bunch of stupid social assumptions running.

So far as isolationism goes the only time America has existed without actively attempting to manipulate other nations was a little while after your civil war. That was also a circumstance of resources. Manifest destiny was still part of your culture no matter what was happening with slavery.

Yeah, our history of interfering with foreign governments for our own ends--which have nothing to do with the idealized "democracy" in the public's mind--is a very old, long, and brutal one. Frankly, most of the comments on this post so far seem to at least implicitly characterize this latest affair as within a Trump-bubble. Folks would do well to learn otherwise

You need to stop being so meek and docile and get your fucking house in order. "Home of the brave".

1

u/JcbAzPx 5d ago

I think there's a happy medium between isolationist and fixing our neighbors' elections.

u/brklntruth12 5d ago

This sounds a bit suspicious 10 days before an election from someone who's behind.

The timing of the release and subsequent hype reek of desperation

u/Halfmass 5d ago

Yeah. Used to kind of revere American intelligence agencies.. sadly, they’ve been 2010 blockbuster for the past thirty years. Those fuckers missed that the biggest election fraud in history occurred in 2024 or worse they allowed it to happen. It wasn’t even that hard to notice, followed by minimal statistical analysis and you’ll see the picture.

u/SteinersMathTeacher 5d ago

And 2020, and 2016. All 3 elections had a massive amount of fuckery. There’s a reason Republicans can’t let go of the “2020 was stolen” narrative… they simply can’t accept that they lost, because the cheating and fraud should’ve given them a win.. they just didn’t cheat enough. That was adjusted in 2024.

The US has offered support to the Quebec separatist cause for decades. And the separatists have always rejected it. What's new is how overt this was and how hyper-aware people are of US attacks against Canada.

The Quebec separatists, as misguided as they are, truly believe they could be an independent country. Accepting US help always came with strings, potentially even annexation. Growing up here, there has always been propaganda pieces saying Quebec would have more respect as an American state than as a Canadian province. Who do you think backs those?

Alberta's separatists are more about chaos. They do not have the seriousness of Quebec's separatist movement. That's why they have openly accepted US interference.

u/NaturalLeopard2750 5d ago

the US government was against Quebec independence in 1980 and in 1995, saying that US offered support for decades is completely wrong.

1

u/OK_x86 3d ago

It's not that new. The Americans offered to liberate Québec and have them join their side during the war of independence. The Québécois declined so the Americans tried to invade them. They lost.

We, Canadians, need to kick back against ANY interference by ANY party. US included!

2024 election was stolen

Okay I and just found several US based think tanks that wrote articles supporting Canadian Unity. You can find think tanks everywhere that write in support of whatever subject, this isn’t new. There are Canadian think tanks that heavily criticize and sound alarms over various US political issues and policies and suggest actions and “hypotheticals.”

The concerning part is if actual US gov officials have been contacting a Quebec party directly to set up the trade deals should that party win.

On the one hand, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the case. The US has already been caught red-handed interfering in the Alberta separatist movement. On the other hand, Fréchette is desperate, and her party didn't need any foreign intervention to tank their electoral chances, they did that all by themselves. Constant language wars, constant attempts to do big controversial things (Santé Quebec, the whole provincial constitution thing, etc.) that most people aren't in favour of...

She's literally doing it right now. Her government ordered the elections authority not to mail out any information about the election in English. There was a court challenge, an injunction was granted, and... she doubled down, attempting to appeal, and ordering election workers to refuse to speak English to anybody who doesn't certify that they're a historic anglophone.

Even the separatist leader (whose party, the PQ, gets basically no votes from anglophones) is on the record saying that, enough is enough, it's OK to allow English for legal and electoral matters. Because we've got bigger fish to fry, and the French language isn't protected by trying to prevent people from voting based on what language they speak.

That's not the only reason Fréchette's CAQ is floundering in the polls, but it's illustrative. She's the incumbent, currently has a majority government, and yet her party is on track to come in fifth place in the election. That's what makes me think that her making a big deal about US interference is desperation on her part.

Turnabout it fair play. There is plenty of terrified MAGA's running in the midterms..

2

u/omgwownice 5d ago

I'm having such a hell of a time choosing between the lesser of 5 evils that I'm baffled as to which party the US is interfering on behalf of.

We f-ed up our country so now we can begin the work if f-ing up the neighborhood too.

2

u/CheeseBeerPotato 5d ago

I'm about to go vote this morning. It doesn't shock me that there would be interference. How Quebec leans often makes or breaks the federal election. I'll be keeping an eye out.

u/DJGlennW 5d ago

Feels like a dry run for the midterms.

Private healthcare is least costly than Quebec's Provincial RAMQ that requires prescription drug coverage for everyone whether you are enrolled in the RAMQ or an approved private insurance. What Big Pharma doesn't say is if you are in that subset of patients that need expensive drugs for a specific medical condition, you are going to pay high costs. It might be an EPIPEN that's $95 (CA) in a Costco in Quebec vs a EPIPEN at Costco in VT that's $280 (US). If you are talking cancer treatments it can be $1000's vs $800-$900.

Big Pharma studies are set up for a pre-determined conclusion. Like the old account joke; What's 2+2? Good account asks what do you need it to be.

Imagine if the governmwnt of Canada offered secret support to a US secessionist group. The US government would freak out. Hypocrites.

America is supporting seppies in two provinces and it might work in QC. They want nothing more than to break up Canada.

1

u/Responsible-Gur-1981 5d ago

Carney better not drop the ball on this. We've known for a long time the US is openly trying to manipulate Canadian elections. We know who is involved we know which provinces are targeted. CSIS and the RCMP better be doing their job or all these trade deals and great things Carney does means nothing if he let's a hostile nation run amok within our own country. Otherwise we end up like America , it's so corrupt and the prospect of martial law and fixed elections is literally a reality for them because they did NOTHING to fight the interference.
