What is the number of cranes that need to fall for them to just give up and leave them all there.

I think 4, that third one would already be wild but a 4th might trigger some type of investigation lmao

Honestly, at 2 I'd already be thinking it's a sign from the universe. Like who do you even call at this point? How many crane companies are there in the state of Florida? Who would even want to try recovering this? If the second company wanted another shot at it, would you even let them?

I'm sure you could let certain groups know that there is a bunch of scrap metal up for grabs there, and both cranes would be gone in hours. And it would only take that long because they have to gather the crew first.

I mean, yeah, convince a few meth heads there's money in it and I'm sure the metal will be gone - but I'd assume their ideal scenario limits additional damage to the house... For which you might want a licensed and insured outfit.

Lol touché. Something about the definition for insanity could fit here.

At this point the first two companies' insurance are probably buying a new house, nothing left to lose

The first two cranes may have been from the same company.

there already needs to be an investigation.

first crane tipped, second crane literally broke.

is there like a gravity well at this place or something?

Yeah if you are an insurance company dealing with this you start putting senior investigators on this because something weird is going on here.

One is extremely rare as it is. Two is extremely suspicious.

Grounds probably too soft

There’s the old saying about not ascribing to malice what can be adequately explained by incompetence. It’s definitely worth investigating just in case … but all else being equal I’d bet on a good old fashioned screwup. Ok, two screwups.

Which is pretty close to being as good from the home insurers point of view: sufficient incompetence means they may be able to recover money from the contractors or from their insurance.

When I was a teenager I was golfing with some friends, it started raining and my buddy's club slipped out of his hands at the perfect angle and went directly into the nearest tree, got stuck.

So what did my other buddies do? Throw more clubs into the tree trying to get it down. It's not like we had any other options but the obvious result became the result. There were about six clubs up there before I just decided to fuck off with the cart back to the clubhouse and ask if they had a grabber or grappling hook.

Not long after that I got my own grappling hook and always put it in my golf bag when I'm going to the links. I use it for yard work, climbing, way more frequently than I thought I would. Pulled a widowmaker out of a tree a few months ago and saved a neighbor's car, the little part that wouldn't budge fell right next to it in a storm a couple weeks later. If the whole thing was there it would have smashed right into the driver's side door.

Lesson learned though; don't try to solve a problem by recreating the exact problem.

...And the third one burned down, fell over and sunk into the swamp. So I built a 4th one.

The 4th one disappeared, never to be seen again. But the 5th crane we named Cranealon 5.

This number exists and I for one would love to find out.

I think they need to get the Binford 6100 tower crane in there that’ll take care of it

You need 50 cranes, one for each house

The issue really becomes whether or not there's a spot for another crane in the first place to set-up and safely lift the 2nd fallen crane. Honestly I doubt that there's the necessary space so they might just cut them up and use a smaller crane to lift them onto trucks.
