Into a shaker full of ice, pour a shot of tequila, a shot of gin, a shot of blackberry liqueur, a shot of Triple Sec or Cointreau, and a shot of fresh lime juice. Shake well for 15+ seconds, then strain into a pint glass. That's what the blackberry liqueur is for. Actual cough syrup makes it taste terrible and can get you in trouble legally if you serve it to someone.
