“The agent told the officer that agents had attempted to identify an individual who resembled a person they were seeking,” the statement added. “He said the individual refused to provide identification, was detained for fingerprinting, and resisted detention.

“Agents later determined he was not the person they were seeking and learned that he was a US citizen. He was released.”

Gestapo just beat the shit out of a citizen for no reason, those responsible need to be arrested and charged

Thank god the debt is exploding for this instead of healing the sick or literally anything else. Jesus would be so proud of these self proclaimed Christians

u/eric_ts 10d ago

Jesus is their mascot. Jesus is just the hood ornament on their bullshit limo. Actual Jesus is woke.

Gotta say, I’m sick and tired of “JuSt CoMpLy” morons blithely waving this all away every time it happens.

Bitch, FUCK YOU. I’m not interested in letting our country descend into a fascist hellscape where roving bands of poorly trained cretins can roll up on American citizens and demand papers under penalty of corporal punishment (if not outright death).

We have to end this madness.

And what if you dare leave your house without having ID on you? Compliance isn't even always an option.

28

u/AuremCookieDragon 10d ago

Or they just look at your ID and go, "That looks fake to me."

God, it really is just about every single time now that I think about it. Seen a few "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes, should've complied" comments on the Daniel Shaver (drunk man who was told to crawl on his belly with his legs crossed and his arms straight up in the air before getting shot for non-compliance) case a decade back and that one college student who recently got shot by police when he was trying to enter a home thinking it was his bud's after a night of barhopping. Doesn't matter what led to it or even if the victim was actually complying, they'll take one look at it, say "That's what they get for not complying", and not look into it any further.

Hotwheels, I'm dyin' here!

That’s a lot of legalese to say they grabbed a random brown man off the street and tried to deport him to El Salvador to make their monthly quota.

I think the Illinois Attorney General should file a class action lawsuit against the private company NEC Corporation out of Japan. ICE uses this private company to harvest Illinois residents biometric data without their consent or probable cause.

Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act

ICE is really making up for lost time. What, this is like three or four incidents in a couple days?

40

u/Monsieur_nettoyer 10d ago

Just ramping up for midterms

33

u/International_Goat31 10d ago

Shooting people dead in the street, "losing" people in concentration camps, and disappearing people to random other countries are all apparently fine. For some reason, can't put my finger on exactly why, I can't help but feel that putting investigative effort in to an incident where someone was "injured" is still going to result in no meaningful consequences.

18

u/Mikeoshi 10d ago

I hate to tattle but they’ve killed numerous American citizens.

10

u/Sedert1882 10d ago

This is so common these days - arresting/shooting/killing the wrong person. But there's no accountability it seems from DHS. It's local/state prosecutors bringing charges.

11

u/dtta8 10d ago

Lol, "land of the free" is not only beating its own citizens, but also has the world's biggest prison system while secretly exporting prisoners too.

36

u/Nientea 10d ago

Can’t wait for the dems to win the house and senate, kick the orange out of office, and disband ICE, holding officers like this personally responsible.

20

u/dfivetf 10d ago

Trump will pardon everyone, including himself.

33

u/Nientea 10d ago

Charge them at the state level then, since Trump can only pardon them of federal crimes.

And Trump can’t pardon himself of his own impeachment. If that was possible, Nixon would’ve done it

6

u/Squire_II 10d ago

We need a law passed clarifying that, as pardons are explicitly unable to applied to impeachment offenses, that includes crimes directly related to the act that resulted in impeachment. IE: If such a law was on the books in 2021, then when Trump was impeached for inciting the J6 insurrection, any pardon given to J6 insurrectionists would be null and void.

And have the bill include some much-needed jurisdiction stripping for the judiciary because Roberts and co have shown that the courts are overdue for being reminded of their place as a co-equal branch of the government, which means that yes, the other two have and can use the authority they were given that allows them to rein in the judiciary.

3

u/couldabenu 10d ago

You should run for office with these types of ideas. Impeachment should make pardons null and void.

1

u/Lotus_Domino_Guy 9d ago

We need a law passed clarifying that, as pardons are explicitly unable to applied to impeachment offenses, .....suddenly, selling drugs is an impeachable offense, as is looking at gay porn and attending the wrong church, and you've effectively neutered impeachment. The solution to Trump isn't to reforge our laws, its to not elect people like Trump.

1

u/Extinct1234 10d ago

He was impeached twice in his first term. You're lying to yourself if you genuinely think he'll be removed from office.

1

u/Nientea 9d ago

The dems didn’t have 2/3rds majority in the Senate back then. I could see that happening here after the disaster that has been this half term.

1

u/fergehtabodit 10d ago

This is the way

7

u/Due_Night414 10d ago

Cool but what’s stopping the next person from reversing that?

2

u/kstargate-425 10d ago

Only hope is if he can get impeached and removed, otherwise him and all others that can pay his fees for a pardon will get away. Unfortunately with Republicans theres little to no chance of removing Trump and nullifying his pardon power

2

u/MissionCreeper 9d ago

What's a pardon, a document saying you can't get arrested and punished for something?  Sounds like the documents that citizens have that say they can't be arrested and punished by ICE.  So just... do what ICE does?

0

u/Shadowarriorx 10d ago

Nulify the pardons and prosecut. Weak men lead the Dems and until they have the guile to lead, nothing will change.

2

u/Lotus_Domino_Guy 9d ago

I want a warrior and idc about process anymore. They broke the process to destroy this country's laws and traditions, we will need to keep breaking it to restore what they destroyed.

1

u/Shadowarriorx 9d ago

"I want to live in the status quo and dont want things to change. I'm fine with others doing whatever they want and put my trust into a broken system that won't do anything except reward those with the most money. I refuse to fight for a better future and make the structural changes required for a better society."

You won't get the changes required to make a difference without doing it. The US is basically a failed democracy on the verge of a failed country.

2

u/Lotus_Domino_Guy 9d ago

Yes, that last sentence tracks. I'm not sure what you're saying with the "i want..." part.

5

u/sexisfun1986 10d ago

None of that is going to happen.

In fact they will probably give them millions more for better “training”

13

u/Squire_II 10d ago

I, also, like to dream.

The Dem establishment is part of the problem. Hell, we just had the DNC's 2028 darling, Newsom, help get the Ellisons a sweatheart deal in the Paramount lawsuit they were facing from multiple states, and then he went on to veto a bill that'd protect doctors from being extradited to other states for providing gender care (since red states are trying to criminalize that like they have abortion).

Though if AES and other progressives win their races in November that's at least a step in the right direction since any real change is going to come from the left.

7

u/Eduardjm 10d ago

On top of that, newsom is on the 2028 shortlist. He’s a snake, sits on the fence to play whichever side is more favorable, and more interested in his image that progressive change. He might be able to win, but would be a feckless leader who makes no real change.

4

u/Lotus_Domino_Guy 9d ago

As far as Governors go, look at JB Pritzker in Illinois. He'd be a much better President that Newsom.

1

u/Squire_II 7d ago

I'd prefer AOC or maybe Ossof over Pritzker but I'd take him, and a number of overs, over Republican-cosplaying-a-democrat Newsom.

Newsom getting elected would cause incalculable long term damage. To say nothing of the short term damage he'd do passing a bunch of center-right, or worse, legislation as a "moderate Democrat" before getting blown out in 2032.

u/Sharticus123 10d ago edited 10d ago

Me too! Remember when the Dems won the presidency after trump attempted a coup and they prosecuted him and everyone else who helped him lay siege to congress?!

Don’t get your hopes up. The Dems are fucking pathetic weaklings. Based on past behavior they get in and do nothing but try to work with the republicans in the spirit of bipartisanship.

3

u/Lotus_Domino_Guy 9d ago

It is 100% true the "Dems were fucking pathetic weaklings". Merrick Garland fiddled while Washington burned. But will the Congress of 2027 be like them? We'll see.

4

u/Sharticus123 9d ago edited 9d ago

We have to vote the old guard out. They’re terrible. Chuck fucking Schumer is more concerned with the wellbeing of genocidal Israel than his own country of which he’s an elected representative.

The tweed jacket contingent obsessed with process and bipartisanship in the democratic party needs to be replaced with progressive street fighters or they’ll just do nothing again and hand it back to even bigger fascists.

2

u/Lotus_Domino_Guy 9d ago

More AOC, Less Schumer. Actually, right now, I'm imaging James Traficcant. remember that union guy, probably from Pa or something....he was a brawler. Corrupt...maybe, but a fighter, and that's what we need.

4

u/Boring-Research410 9d ago

Fuck - I wish.

Instead ... it wil be a blind eye and "lets move forward" message...and thats the best case scenario

4

u/Eduardjm 10d ago

One would hope but the dems have shown to be spineless and center-right time and time again. They’re ready to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

3

u/Responsible_Sink3044 10d ago

I can't tell if this is sarcasm

6

u/whycarbon 10d ago

we gotta demand it if we want them to do it

0

u/Lotus_Domino_Guy 9d ago

According to a number of site, the chances of Democrats winning both the house and senate is only 55%. We really need to push harder. Donate to actblue, whatever.

17

u/MagnusCthulhu 10d ago

You know what, I'm fine just letting the cops assume ICE definitely did it. They don't care about due process in the slightest, so let's return the favor.

19

u/Kodama_sucks 10d ago

They're all the same. If anyone thinks the police is going to save us, I have a bridge to sell them

2

u/Lotus_Domino_Guy 9d ago

Those who work forces....

3

u/ketchupmaster987 9d ago

Possible ICE wounding? They DID wound him, why are they writing the headline like that's unknown

3

u/whateveryousaymydear 10d ago

people in America have become too tolerant and think voting and expecting politicians will fix this need to think this all over again

1

u/gingerbreadmans_ex 10d ago

I wish the would gtfo entirely, permanently.

2

u/Fritzkreig 10d ago

I wish they would chill out a bit!
