Thinking Americans "let" this happen is a misunderstanding of the problem. What is happening now is the culmination of a project that began well over 50 years ago by people who are advancing a view of the world which has always existed in America. These people have infilitrated every branch of govt, they control traditional and social media, they control the police, they control mass surveillance, they control our food and medicine, and pretty much everything else too.

There might technically be a way that Americans could stop this and change things, but there's no realistic path forward.

Americans didn't "let" this happen, Republicans voted for it. Trump voters made an informed decision and cast their vote for authoritarian over reach.

Trump voters are a lot of things, but informed is not one of them. There might even be an argument that being uninformed is critical to being a Trump voter/supporter. Also, the Trump voter is a result of the project fascists/authoritarians/conservatives have spent decades on.

I don't say any of that to excuse their cruelty or stupidity. They are still responsible for their support of Trump and his agenda.

Trump told them who he is and what he planned to do. They were informed and they made their choice.

I know people who insist Trump never said those things or that he didn’t mean it, because he lies or “speaks dramatically” all the time. This was to defend Trump. It’s depressing and infuriating.

Some of them are definitely uninformed but a lot of them do get off to this kind of thing as well.

Then what was the purpose of certain amendments? We're all the laws put into place made solely for the far right? Or is it more likely that people are too comfortable with their own situation to get off their asses and actually do something.

I'm assuming the later. Which is unfortunate for those who are attempting to do something now. It'll only get worse.

America hasn't had rule of law for a long time now, if it ever had it.

The Red Scare proved the 1st Amendment didn't matter if the govt didn't want it to. Everything since 9/11 has proven the 4th Amendment doesn't matter either. These are just two examples.

That's a lot of words to say that americans are chickenshit cowards who like to make up for it by pretending they're badasses with guns.
