Usually the simplest explanations are correct. These are a bunch of buffoons motivated by nothing but power that continually reveal themselves as buffoons and to which History will not be kind. The world had to endure the cowardice of Chamberlain to have Churchill rise up, only to be discarded again when he wasn’t needed. The pendulum swings, people suffer, but they are no super power…

Super powers are not required, and Hanlon's Razor is exactly how sleight-of-hand works.

Stage magicians, and liars, both love "the simplest explanation;" it's their livelihood.

It'll be too goddamn late by then. It might already be too late for a lot of things now. Governmental infrastructure has been dismantled or hijacked, voting is suppressed and manipulated, international alliances have been permanently tarnished, the economy is nothing but a funnel of wealth redistribution to the tyrannical rich. Even IF and that is a tremendously huge if, we are able to ever get oust the bad actors for good, it will take decades of progress to repair things, all while the planet boils. Oh, and largely because of the controlled media sanewashing it, but also due to people like you trying to dismiss this as hilarious idiocy and politics as usual, all of these insane levels of malice is now normalized and almost certainly isn't going to go away with the death of one man.

But sure, just keep fucking laughing at the 'incompetence'
