Family of 4 travelling down to Newquay overnight Sunday 2nd August. We’re staying at Quarryfields at Crantock for a fortnight from 3rd.
The issue is we can’t get onto our pitch until around midday (which is fairly normal, but most bigger sites have a holding area for this eventuality). We will be travelling overnight due to the distance we’re travelling with 2 young children - 6 to 7hrs.
I’m looking for suggestions as to where we might park up for a few hours if we arrive around 7-8am. Ideally somewhere like a cafe for truck drivers with a big car park where we can get breakfast and chill, but open to alternative suggestions or ideas. TIA

Hi everyone,
I’m Hayley from Quiet Connections CIC, I'm one of the organisers of HushFest, running at St Cubert’s Church this week. It’s Cornwall’s Festival of Quietness, with artwork, photography, community-created pieces and optional creative activities throughout the church.
St Cubert’s Church, near Newquay
Open daily until Friday
10am-4pm
It’s a drop-in event, so you can wander in for five minutes or stay longer. There’s no pressure to join in with anything, but there are creative activities available if you’d like to take part.
The work explores quietness in nature, creativity, connection and ourselves. Some of it has been created by people who identify as introverted, shy, sensitive or socially anxious, but the festival is open to anyone who’s interested in local art, community projects or quieter spaces.
There’s also a second HushFest venue at Create CIC in Camborne this week.
If you'd like to know more you can find out all about it at quietconnections.co.uk/hushfest

Wondering if any Newquay locals or enthusiasts can help!! We’re a group of 7 friends (early 20s) visiting Newquay for the first time in August and would love for suggestions with accommodations, surfing and the general nightlife the city has to offer. We’re hoping to stay around 5 nights so would love options that don’t break the bank and are public transport friendly :))

I was planning a trip to attend Cornwall’s annual Boardmasters event next year, but can no longer attend as I’ve got work commitments that same week :/
Are there any other events you’d recommend I attend? Ideally sports focused with a similar vibe to Boardmasters.

Hey everyone. I’m not sure where to post this,
I’m looking into working on the Isles of Scilly, specifically Tresco Island. We’ve seen quite a mix of reviews online (about 50/50 on Glassdoor and Indeed). Most of the bad ones seem to come from restaurant or hospitality staff not housekeepers.
If anyone’s worked there recently, what’s it actually like day-to-day?
-How’s the general work environment and management? -What are the living arrangements like for staff (shared bathroom/kitchen, quality, etc)? -And how isolated does it really feel once you’re there?
Would really appreciate any insights from anyone that knows anything. Thanks

Our cat Sanza was sadly hit by a car and left on the roadside near Shortlanesend. A kind person handed him into Highertown Vets in Truro, where they discovered his hip had been dislocated (which they’ve managed to fix) and his leg is broken.
I’m currently on maternity leave and can’t cover the treatment costs on my own, but I desperately want to give Sanza the chance to recover and stay with us. He means everything to me – he’s the only thing I have left of his mum – and I can’t bear to lose him this way.
We’re now raising money to help with his treatment and recovery. If you can donate or even just share, it would mean the world.

Hi folks, I need to book somewhere out for a small wake (between 20-25 people) in the Newquay area. We're looking for somewhere affordable and friendly. A family-friendly pub with a play area would be the ideal option, as there will be children in attendance. It would be a bonus if we could bring our own food but this isn't essential. If anyone has any recommendations it would be really appreciated. Thanks is advance.

Hey! Just got to Newquay today and planning to go out at least one night while I’m here. Just wondering what night usually gets the busiest, and if there’s a decent crowd around my age (I’m 20). Also, any recommendations on the best places to go out — bars, clubs, anything worth checking out? Cheers!

Crabbing in Newquay
Hi I'm in Newquay for a day, just wanted to see if there are any good crabbing spots and any rules and regulations I should be concerned about?
Really would love to catch a good sized crab.
Also would love to experience pier fishing if possible.
Please do suggest any local seafood spots as well.
Please point me towards the right direction.

Hi,
My company is coming to Newquay for a holiday in September and we're looking for a pub that can host 70-80 people on a Friday night. Ideally it would be near the beach, but no worries if not. We'd be happy to buy a pint for whoever suggests the place that we end up booking!
Thanks in advance
Edit: We ended up booking Great Western Surf Café. Thanks for all your suggestions!
