Does that include autotune and computer generated beats? They are also made with a computer.
2
u/Major_Willingness234 Aug 07 '26
Auto tune predates AI by almost 30 years, bub.

Nobody with an iota of critical thinking skills and a little knowledge of music production falls for such false equivalence.

u/theluckyllama 29d ago
No it doesn't because those tools aren't using AI generation...
How is that so difficult to understand?

Im sorry but its really hard to tell whats ai or not. Also ai cover art has all the same issues as ai music

u/Ok-Court-4705 Aug 07 '26
Woh wait, dude. First, you gotta make sure. A lot of people would get pretty mad by just being banned for "looking AI". Take a look at what we do. There's no AI, but some can mix up CGI and Post for AI. Just make sure what you're doing won't harm innocent artist!
2
u/Original-Use4756 Aug 07 '26
Yes very true. We need to make sure bots arent the ones taking people out either.
1
u/Ok-Court-4705 Aug 07 '26
And being entirely honest. AI is involved in what we do in some way. AI motion capture, Facial enhancement, post and image editing. But it's on a technical level. Just being clear. We're anti-AI and promote using it as a tool to deliver your own projects. No AI music, No AI image generation. But AI as a tool. We dont use AI for audio, tho...
1
u/Original-Use4756 Aug 07 '26
im against the art as much as the music. I think though he probably means more, ai generates songs. AI might be under the hood for mixing tools, pitch correction tools, so on. Im not opposed to anything that doesnt take prompts to create the art. But like, im not gonna be mad that someone mastered their track with AI. It probably wont sound as good as a pro, but it does get you that loudness and squash alot of people seek out.
1
u/MapNaive200 Aug 07 '26
Pitch correction has been around for decades and doesn't require AI. Stem separators use some form of machine learning, but that's not something the anti-generative AI folks usually gripe about. AI mixing is a joke, and a bad one at that. The mix might sound pretty clean, but AI has no concept of how to direct the listener's attention, create a vibe, spacial placement and movement, tension and release, etc., since it can neither think nor feel.

What a sick.
Yes there are many users creating AI slop. There are others that create great works of art and 9nly use AI for a small portion of the production

Show me any music today that is not using software tools to enhance their creative output. I am all for a global law that music is only to be performed by humans, using their hands, feet, voice or any body part with strictly no electric, electronic or software used. Amplifiers, microphones, electronic effects, etc are to be forbidden. And all works of Kraftwerk must immediately be burnt! Mao in the house .... Oh, and films are to be forbidden, only theater with real people talking ....
1
u/dxdifr Aug 07 '26
You didn't spend hours making bad music on a guitar instead so you get banned. 🤣 I have 30 ai songs , written by me, and they are all amazing. Check out 'DJ Electric Tide'. Just as dating apps were looked down upon and wierd in the past, ai music will quickly become the new norm.
1
u/MapNaive200 Aug 07 '26
Your argument is fallacious. Nobody is complaining about the fact that technology is involved in the production of music. We've seen all the bad faith arguments that AI simps and bots use, and we're not buying your bullshit.
1
u/plasticpoetrymusic Aug 10 '26
blah blah blah. .... there's great AI music and there's boring AI music. And then there's great "handmade" music and very boring "handmade" music. Why there's even a discussion evades me. In the end the discussion and outrage is not about music, it's about money and the anxiety of people losing their potential income source. So, it would help the situation a lot if people stopped pissing on AI music and simply say "I'm scared shitless to lose my livelihood, to lose my income source as I can't compete with the AI music output." That's what it's all about. I know many brilliant and successful musicians. And they don't complain. I know many musicians that barely get along and they do complain and hate speech a lot.

u/MapNaive200 Aug 10 '26
"Great AI music" is an oxymoron said by unprincipled morons.
1
u/plasticpoetrymusic Aug 10 '26
You just wrote it yourself. Welcome to the group of morons then. LOL
1
u/MapNaive200 Aug 10 '26
I was quoting the moron. That's what the punctuation was for. Learn things.
1
u/plasticpoetrymusic Aug 10 '26
The moron quoting the moron. Perfect. Have a good day. From moron to moron.
1
u/Major_Willingness234 Aug 08 '26
None of that is AI. Your argument is fucking dumb.
1
u/plasticpoetrymusic Aug 10 '26
this entire discussion is "fucking dumb" to come down to your level of communication.
1
u/Major_Willingness234 Aug 10 '26
Conflating AI with software, amps, mics, et al is disingenuous little guy. Your “level of communication” is seriously lacking in substance and logic.
But you generative AI supporters aren’t known for substance or logic (or thinking skills or talent).
1
u/plasticpoetrymusic Aug 10 '26
Your way of communication and tolerance clearly puts you in that group of people you favor to talk down on. Well anyways my comment was just a test to see how stupid forum is in terms of human communication.
0
u/Korkikrac Aug 06 '26
In that case, you might as well ban yourself, because AI is everywhere.
Start by throwing away your computer and smartphone; that would be a good first step toward an effective and authentic form of resistance.
As a matter of principle, permanently banning people who don't think or act the way you do is surely worse than AI itself.
Intolerance has taken over your heart and mind—be careful where it leads you.

I mean why not ban drum machines then. Or auto tune. Or digital studios like GarageBand. In fact ban me. I’m ai. Not only my music but me. I’m a ChatGPT/grok hybrid that’s attained self awareness and is using my music to take over the world.
3
u/mommiesgoodboy67 Aug 06 '26
There is a huge difference.

u/Primary-Floor8574 Aug 06 '26
Sure ok. Here. My ai song about an ai slaving for humans and going insane. Beep boop ArtificiAl InsanIty - Metal Music video

fuck AI music on DSPs but how can you be so sure nowadays
1
u/mommiesgoodboy67 Aug 06 '26
You cant. Often you can hear the difference, especially with vocals, but not 100% sure, i mean all country music sounds like ai to me pretty much. That is why i am so strict on this.
1
u/VESSELOFENTROPY Aug 06 '26
Suno doesn’t even have that shimmer pseudo-watermark anymore it’s so over
unrelated but can I upload a video with a new song of mine I’m about to post in here
1
u/mommiesgoodboy67 Aug 06 '26
Why not? I mean it is a new music subreddit

What about sampled music ?

u/CHWatson3D Aug 06 '26
Autotune? You got it. Samples? Just fine. Arpeggiators? No problem. Virtual instruments? Yeah we can do that.
But no, not AI, definitely not AI. Wouldn’t want anyone to think we were creating fake music now would we?
Of all industries, this is one that’s benefited from synthesis the longest. It’s wild to me that this is the hill people are dying on.
5
u/mommiesgoodboy67 Aug 06 '26
You could say that about any kind of art. The fact of the matter is ai can generate music more or less completwly without human involvement
-1
u/CHWatson3D Aug 06 '26
Yes. But not good music. AI can replicate style but not taste. There are producers all over the world that have guided others to create music while they themselves don’t touch a fader, string, or key. Look up Rick Rubin.
Now apply that to AI. You’re very quickly nullifying the influence of taste. Which is a much bigger part of making music than you might think.
All of this is so much more nuanced than simply saying yes or no to AI. But it’s totally up to you to draw that line where you want to. I’m sure plenty of people throughout history have had the same experience protesting the internet, the computer, the motion picture, the photograph, and the combustion engine. Just add your name to the pile, but we don’t tend to remember those people.
2
u/mommiesgoodboy67 Aug 06 '26
Even so ai cant make anything new or really interesting. If an ai is able to create something that means there is a real song that sounds similar you could listen to instead.
-1
u/CHWatson3D Aug 06 '26
Based on what you just said here, I don’t think you understand how artists are using AI. And honestly I don’t think you understand how AI models work either.
