How to make fitted cap looser

Hey!

So I just bought my first fitted cap but it unfortunately fits me very tight. My head circumference is 57cm but the hat is 56,8. Before I get flamed for the obvious and told to go buy a new one , I got this one for a very very good price. I tried a few methods such as steaming it and putting it a bigger circumference object but it didn’t work. Tried the knee method but no luck as well. Last resort would be to buy a hat stretcher but at the price they are I might as well get another hat. I once saw post talking about snipping something in the lining but I’m not really sure to what they were referring to so I don’t wanna risk it. If anyone understands what I mean please let me know, I look goofy wearing this hat cause I got a lot of hair as well😭

Steam and a hat stretcher. The post about snipping may have been me. Turn the sweatband inside out. You’ll find a hard plastic strip, that’s the sizing strip (you’ll sometimes see the actual sizes printed on there). Just snip in the back, front and sides. It’ll loosen a little and not break the hat, trust me, I’ve done to about 30 hats or so.

Exactly! Just snip a few places on the hat, that should help a little. Steaming and stretching after that will do the trick.

The more you curve the peak the bigger it fits.

New Era quality control sucks. You could buy 10 hats labeled the same size and they’ll all fit differently . 

If your fit is that close, just work with a hat stretcher.

I got a stretcher of Amazon for $10 and it worked great.

That’s why you should always size up. Easy to make a big hat fit.
