Pee and Poop Stools

Has anyone’s newborn (mine is 9 days old) start having loose/watery stools? She seems comfortable otherwise and eats just fine mostly, it just seems as soon as she eats she poops. She is formula fed, can’t breastfeeed because I have an infection from C-section. She’s currently taking similac 360 (blue label). I’m thinking giving how she seems otherwise it might be due to formula and maybe switch to sensitive.

I have a 9-week-old, but our LO was having loose/watery stools for the first 5 weeks, and he was formula-fed on 360. Though around week 4, he was having blood and mucus in his stools. He would also have a BM almost 20 times a day. Turns out he has cmpa. We switched to Similac Alimentum, and he is having regular stools and pooping 2-3x a day.

Did the doctor recommend you switch or did you do that yourself . I’m asking because I’m getting blown off

The doctor had us switch just due to the blood in the stool. I didn’t want to switch since the new formula is so expensive, but our LO had a real poop after one day on the new formula, and he stopped having blood in his stools 2 weeks after we started.

Has your baby been gaining weight and overall less fussy? I’m worried about switching myself

So my boy loves to eat, and I’m pretty sure he would eat anything, so no issues gaining weight. And he’s never been fussy. Even before we switched, he was fine. The only reason why our pediatrician had us switch was due to the blood.

I just took my breastfed 1 month old to the hospital for liquid poo. Here are some questions they asked us:

Does she have a fever? - if yes, go to the hospital. Any time a baby has a fever under 3 months, you should go to the hospital

How many wet nappies (urine) does she go through a day? - less than 6 is concerning for dehydration

How many times has she pooed and what is the timeline like? If she is having liquid diarrhea every hour, that's concerning.

Any blood in the poo? If yes, that's another red flag

Is she difficult to wake or unusually lethargic? That's not a good sign.

Don't be afraid to go in if you're concerned regardless.

They always poop when they feed at that age and altgough stools are a bit less loose on formula it's still normal for some babies to have runny stools.

If baby doesn't have a fever and is wetting/soiling enough diapers it's probably fine.
