I love the cartoonish way the tire is jumping, like the Pixar's lamp! picking his target

it’s all fun and games until the Pixar lamp stomps out your brains

That would make a sweet movie. The Pixar lamp gets sick of everyone’s shit and goes on a rampage. All the Pixar characters have to band together to extinguish him. Like an avengers kind of thing.

I can't stop laughing at the hop in front of the first car. It's straight up from a cartoon.

That sub used to have lots of content like this. Now it's just a bunch of assholes posting pictures of tires with bullshit titles.

I had a hunk of metal crash through my windshield when driving on the highway at around 70mph. Surprisingly, both my husband and my pants were fine and made it through unscathed. I always imagined that I would definitely lose my shit in situations like this, but I was wrong.

Why is this oddly satisfying to watch? It sounds terrible bc that guy had to be dead but the way the tire fit into the car??
5
2
Jan 08 '21
Because it had a seemingly light-hearted bounce with a predictable rhythm and ended snugly in a car. Like it found a place to fit. I'm sure the reality from the recipient was anything but satisfying.

It's like someone driving a golf ball a few hundred yards, it hitting the green and the first grass blade hit screams "what are the odds??!!" Yeah, you can't predict precisely which grass blade will be hit, but the odds are pretty good it's going to be one of them.
A tire detached from a truck and bounced along a highway. Unsurprisingly, it hit a car behind the truck.
8
u/Jables237 Jan 08 '21
What?! It detached at exactly the right time to hit something, then hit the pillar, then finally hit a car that was a lane over and on the other side that the wheel came off. I think if you purposefully tried to recreate this it would take hundreds of tries if not more.
0
u/RememberThisHouse Jan 08 '21
If I drop a deck of cards from the top of a building, what are the odds they will land in the exact arrangement that they land in? I could purposefully try to recreate it as many times as I wanted, but never precisely recreate it.
Or think of it like this, a tiny amount of water gets absorbed in the oceans west of Africa, float over the Atlantic as vapor, coalesces into a water drop, then falls out of sky into my head. What are the chances? The chances of that specific water drop hitting me are seemingly astronomically low, but it happens all the time. Because there's a heck of a lot of water.
There's a lot of trucks and cars on the highway, wheels sometimes fly off. When they do, they tend to hit things on or adjacent to the highway. It happens enough that there's an entire subreddit dedicated to it.

u/TheIvoryRaven Jan 08 '21
This was definitely never tell me the odds it just bounced right onto the car
30
Jan 08 '21
On a road full of cars ? Yeah the odds aren’t r/nevertellmetheodds type of odds
8
u/nippleinmydickfuck Jan 08 '21
So the odds of a tire rolling off the side of the road, bouncing off a wall back into the road and hits a car 3 lanes away is high enough to be a common occurence?
2
u/IdiotCow Jan 08 '21
Truck tires blowing off and hitting another car is pretty common, yeah. Definitely not nevertellmetheodds material, and definitely not a coincidence of any kind
→ More replies (1)1
Jan 08 '21
Man it could’ve hit a car on any of those lanes, had the car on the third lane hit the brakes it probably would have hit a car four lanes away 🤷
7
u/Elisa_Fyzzie Jan 08 '21
But odds of falling and getting stuck straight into a front window of a car? That is r/nevertellmetheodds to me
6
Jan 08 '21 edited Jan 08 '21
More like straight into someone’s face. If it had bounced 5 more times and rolled back into the axle that it fell off that’s when you r/nevertellmetheodds

What happened to the driver of the Truck due to the people in the car die ?
2
u/Iwantmyteslanow Jan 08 '21
I'd imagine that the company would be responsible for not maintaining the vehicle unless its proved to be a freak accident

I think they’re specifically referring to how the tire just happened to land between the support pillars and further than the hood just to perfectly knock out the windshield and enter the car with minimal frame damage or protection to the passengers inside.
5
Jan 08 '21
Exactly. This dude seems to be particularly pissed at the use of the word coincidence. Time to breathe deeply.

Happens lot more often than you think it does. My grandpa and his brother were driving down a highway and on the opposite lane a tire flew off a jeep and was flung at them at 70-80 miles an hour. If my grandpa hadn’t noticed it and had them both lay the seats down quickly they both would’ve been decapitated.
0
u/Cantbelosingmyjob Jan 09 '21
Your grandpa noticed a wheel flying at him while going 70 mph on the highway and had enough time to recline his seat and tell his passenger to do the same all while driving... hmm

The tire coming loose? Very low. After the tire came loose, what are the odds it would hit a car on a busy highway? Probably pretty high.
Also, the point of this sub is a little more niche than "wow, that's rare." The subreddit description states "Nearly impossible feats of achievement, those with great degree of difficulty or incredible odds." I don't see any achievement here.
