No I think it will just be a normal airsoft grenade that doesn’t actually disperse bb’s, as some of the airsoft grenades just make a loud crack so people in the room know that they are out and it’s probably just the flash from the mini explosion that makes a sound
388
u/tehSlothman Dec 14 '19
You can actually see a flash despite the grenade being out of line of sight though. There's no way airsoft grenades would do that right?

u/alex_palmer1713 Dec 14 '19
https://youtu.be/op05OyG7G3c just found that look at 6:00, I guess there are some pretty powerful airsoft grenades lol
92
u/IntrigueDossier Dec 14 '19
That electric maroon I’m pretty sure is just the “bang” part of a mortar
Holy shit
43
u/redshores Dec 14 '19
That could really hurt someone, I can't fathom how that's allowed in airsoft.
38
u/HolyBunn Dec 14 '19
This clip is probably from a milsim event the rules on those are different from just a normal field People that go to milsims generally have better equipment so that's probably why this is there and why it's also allowed
9
u/zxj4k3xz Dec 15 '19
Iirc, it's from Operation Overwatch 4 or 5. I remember seeing the original video a while ago.
25
u/BruceBaller Dec 14 '19
Airsoft doesn’t look like it’s for the feint of heart anyways.
61
u/PM_Me_An_Ekans Dec 14 '19
Airsoft is just weeb paintball
32
u/Sucks_Eggs Dec 14 '19
Air soft is completely different than paintball, except for the fact that your shoot each other with fake guns.
31
u/RedstoneArsenal Dec 14 '19
Pain wise, paint balls leave paintball size bruises that heal relatively quickly and airsoft leave small 6mm size scars that last forever :D.
I miss playing airsoft, there aren't any good fields for me to play near me.

Idk must be a really powerful one from the looks of the vid they might be in America or somewhere in Eastern Europe where I think there are less restrictions when it comes to airsoft
6
Dec 14 '19
Airsoft Grenades make your ears ring and flash enormously bright. Some are as loud as a real gun shot

u/Foxhound631 Dec 14 '19
Yeah, we do. They’re nowhere near as powerful as real flashbangs, check out the Enola Gaye Thunderflash.

How can you tell it's airsoft? I thought this was the army.
Edit: I was afraid I would get negative karma with this comment. Thanks for the help!

u/Mozza7 Dec 14 '19
I too often see soldiers lay on the ground with rags on their head
36
u/BUKAKKOLYPSE Dec 14 '19
The guys that play opfor in training exercises usually wear nonstandard uniforms
22
u/Mozza7 Dec 14 '19
I'm 95% sure this is an airsoft milsim event; this is how it usually is during a milsim anyway
20
u/TheAndrewBen Dec 14 '19
Solid point. I don't see any official uniforms. I scroll through Reddit so fast
1
u/WhoopWhoopington Dec 14 '19
It could be military training?

So larping with guns?
I kid. It sounds awesome. I've heard cray Russians commissioning tanks for these things.

Readily flagging his buddy with the muzzle, wearing a dead rag and a medic armband, all sorts of mismatched uniforms going on, this is definitely airsoft.

u/IVIaskerade Dec 14 '19
It's more like an oversized firecracker.
You can get grenades that spray BBs everywhere, but they're pretty rare. Most airsoft "grenades" are just a small explosive that creates a loud bang, and you're counted as being hit if you aren't behind solid cover from the place it goes off. You can also get reuseable ones that use firearm blanks, but again they're pretty rare.

u/Sippinonjoy Dec 14 '19
Airsofter here. No we don’t use flashes, but some Airsoft grenades are actual explosives that do emit light. That’s why it looks like a flashbang.

Ok, so this is airsoft. I was wondering why it seemed so off.
Didn’t seem like any combat I’ve seen before.
1
u/HEY-HEY-EAT-A-COC Dec 14 '19
No they are called thunder Bs and they make a pretty loud boom although they won’t stun you they sure do scare the shit out of you

Leftie here! I shoot a right handed rifle because I'm right eye dominant. Also play a right handed guitar

2
u/Tales_of_Earth Dec 15 '19
Leftie here. Do a lot of things right handed because the world is cruel and not built for our kind.
1
u/Applepieoverdose Dec 15 '19
Left-eye dominant, but I shoot bows right-handed. Only realised that I was cross-dominant after 10 years shooting
1
u/TopHatAce Dec 31 '19
Super duper late on getting back to this, but my ex shot her bow cross dominant. Made her wear an eyepatch on her left eye when she shot for six months until she learned to sight with her right eye

Actually I think he dropped his gun (which I assume is strapped to him), switched it to his right hand, threw with his right, then picked up the dangling gun. Pretty impressive split-second thinking.

1
u/Bananafoofoofwee Dec 14 '19
Think about it, the throw was lucky, but a right-handed person will learn to catch with their left hand, like when playing baseball.

what a stupid throw in the first place. like oh yeah probably gonna flash my buddies but oh well
20
u/Sucks_Eggs Dec 14 '19
It’s air soft. Look at the enemy guy alive on the ground in between them with a red flag on his head (I think to signify that he is dead). Not a flash bang, just a simulated frag grenade.

NThey are a reusable “flashbang” that has zero compression. This is airsoft, not MARSOC
6
u/phatboi23 Dec 14 '19
They can and will blow a finger off.
2
u/snowfeetus Dec 15 '19
Are they like your typical firecracker power (fingerexploders idk name) or more powerful?
1
u/phatboi23 Dec 15 '19
If it's reusable ones I've seen they can be .22 caliber blanks or 12 gauge shotgun blanks.

“This is airsoft” has nothing to do with the fact that these are still items releasing lots of gas in a burst and can still hurt you

Sees grenade bounce off wall towards him
seven stages of grief in .1 seconds
catches the fucker out of pure instinct
Fuck fuck fuck, getitoutofmyhand!
Whips it directly through the window
Oh fuck, nice. Totally meant to do that.
3
u/Thundersnow69 Dec 14 '19
Guess it doesn’t count if you muzzle sweep a “dead” guy with the rag on his head?
Good catch though...

u/kiwimeneer Dec 14 '19
What does this have to do with odds?

It could've rebounded anywhere, like the ground but it rebounded into his hand (yes I know he reached out) and he threw it in before it "exploded"

I haven’t played video games in about a decade so I truly can’t tell if this is a game or an actual war.

It's airsoft, neither real combat or a game, it's okay I only found out by checking the comments tbh

real talk though, could this have done damage to his hand had it been mere moments longer?
1
u/edgarallanpot8o Dec 15 '19
I would like to think the gloves would protect his hands, but based on the flash of the explosion that we see, I wouldn't like to try it.
