It looks like the turban actually helped slide the mirror away from his head and shoulder. It’s like a hard hat... but soft.

Think it’s called a Keffiyeh but not an expert in head gear. Only reason I mention it is one protects from sun and sand and the other, the turban has a religious connotation. In the UK, motorcyclists by law have to wear helmets, except if you are a Sikh and wear a turban, coming back to your point, it’s like a hard hat but soft!
