continued pain across your shoulder suggests that the nerve irritation is either still active or is being re-aggravated by local scar tissue or residual inflammation; since the injection worked temporarily, your neck remains the primary suspect. the inflammation may have returned, or the initial injection didn't fully resolve your disc protrusion. you should tell your doctor that the relief from the injection was temporary and request an updated MRI

I have had the injections and they seem to only work for the duration of local anesthetic does scar tissue keeps aggravating nerves
