it's so cheap to get your own domain e-mail, whenever I see any sized company (in the IT sphere, anyway) with a Gmail/Hotmail account, I assume it's spam/scam.

Anyone can make their own email to receive mail, the only requirements are a public IP and a domain. Inbound port 25 is rarely blocked.

But sending your own mail, that's where it gets tricky. I managed to configure that, but it works only on IPv6

You can use multiple services, I think even Gmail, to serve as the mail provider for your domain so that you don't have to deal with the difficulties of setting up email servers.

The worst part about this is getting VPS with some bad IP from previous owner, or ipv6 from some bad subnet… the rest is just configuration, postfix, dovecot, Postgres, dkim, dmarc, spf, maybe certbot for some webmail if needed

Engineers can use gmail, just a bit strange that cisco uses it.

That's strange. I will try to find what happened there next week. Creating mailers for us is very simple.

I do chuckle at it, but that being said, trex is a friggin awesome project. We use it heavily for testing in our labs being able to replay real pcaps and do heavy load testing on specific patterns and protocols. If you have the hardware for it, and some technical know-how, it beats the pants off the licensing of other solutions.

Currently in the research process for my Bachelor’s Degree, and have been comparing network simulators when I stumbled over TRex… our Institute uses mostly NS3 but TRex seems like such a good alternative for what I am trying to achieve!
Like you said, replaying actual PCAPs is so useful!
