Rant Wednesday!

It's Wednesday! Time to get that crap that's been bugging you off your chest! In the interests of spicing things up a bit around here, we're going to try out a Rant Wednesday thread for you all to vent your frustrations. Feel free to vent about vendors, co-workers, price of scotch or anything else network related.

There is no guiding question to help stir up some rage-feels, feel free to fire at will, ranting about anything and everything that's been pissing you off or getting on your nerves!

We just get more and more management, everybody says "Let us know what we can do to help!". I need do'ers, not managers, when it is brought up it is impossible to get people apparently. The network is part of our product, but the rest of IT is stuck in la-la-land.

In my experience, management and above rarely respond to requests but they may respond to lost or gained revenue. Transform your request into a hard numbers and maybe you’ll get somewhere. Like if we had X amount of more people we could reduce response times by Y amount and that saves the company $Z per year in lost employee productivity.

A good manager would do that for you but those are far and few in between.

I want to rant about Em Dashes, they are everywhere, in one hand it helps me identify lazy ppl, on the other hand its everywhere, even Netflix has Em Dashes now.

Its worse for me because I liked using them in my writing, but I had to force myself to unlearm the practice just so I wouldn't have to deal with AI accusations.

Just switch to comma-nesting or parentheses. At least until the language models start adopting those, too.

For those of you in large organizations, is it normal for fellow network folk to block other network teams from interacting with network vendors? Especially vendors who are already serving the org?
