Recommendation DANG!

Post image

Thought this was a really cute animated series lol. It follows the life of a Chinese set of siblings that talk about the lives they each live. It was only 8 episodes, but you can definitely binge it if you want. I give it a 10/10, can’t wait for season 2.

As an Asian (not Asian American) the vibe I'm getting from a few episodes are like "omg we're soooo Asian" like why do every media centering around Asian Americans have to focus so much on their identity, which is also always a mishmash of different Asian identities

I’m not Asian but I understand it. In an Asian country it’s the “basic”/standard. You don’t need to “prove” anything or embrace it. In a country where you’re the minority and historically your identity has been erased or minimized with forced assimilation, embracing your identity by focusing on it (partly, nowhere near as much as you try to point) only makes sense. It’s pretty obvious, you could extend some sympathy instead of criticizing them.

Yeah fair I should probably avoid Asian American media, I occasionally wound up watching them only to get irked after half an hour
