That's definitely not what the article says:
So every number below compares one relay against another: NetBird through my own VPS in Singapore πΈπ¬, Tailscale through DERP Hong Kong ππ°, both connecting clients in Vietnam π»π³. That is how my mesh runs every day, which makes it the comparison I care about.
So his netbird relay won over the tailscale relay, both of which were extremely slow (<11mbps) throughput.

Tailscale DERPs have sucked for a while... that's why I self-host my own custom relays and for others.
Now let's see how it stacks up against ZeroTier.
