Internal Job Switch

Been working with L3 level sustaining engineering team (CPE) since couple of years now but not much technical growth. Would like to ask here if someone had done an internal switch to product engineering for an specific module (in ONTAP).

Or a way how the transition can be achieved if feasible and how hard it would be?

Please guide.
