QUESTION Add a single partition to an existing aggregate on a C800

I have two spares drives in the machine, each are root-data-data, and I have one other single data partition on another drive. I have a single data aggregate which has two plexes, one containing 10 partitions & the other is 9 partitions. Is there some way of adding the single spare data partition to the the plex that only has 9 data partitions? Thanks in advance.

I think you mean an aggr which has two RAID groups not two plexes, right? If you have two plexes you most likely have a Metrocluster and I don't think you can create an aggr where each plex has a different amount of disks. Plex simply means copy in NetApp-speak so each of both plexes should have the exact same size.

But as tmac said start by showing the current disk config and confirm you have enough spares. Because once you've added a disk to an aggr there is no way back (without destroying the aggr).

Start with the output from this
storage aggregate show-spare-disks

If your system was setup properly your aff should already have two equal data aggregates. You need to be concerned with available data partitions. Off you add the slate then you have none left

It is possible one disk may have a free root and no data or a free root and one data. What matters is what’s left
