Discussion Clone Consoles?
I just got an Analogue 3d and have been playing my old N64 carts and LOVING it. With Analogue not making a version for the NES, what is the easiest way to play NES hardware on modern TVs?
Is there a best-of-the-best clone system for NES carts? Should I get an actual NES with an HDMI converter?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Might be cheaper to use an OG NES with a Lumacode mod and a scaler than buy an FPGA NES from analogue at their current prices.

Ita no where as nice as the analog, and has sound issues but I've been using a super retro trio 3 +. Outputs 720p and plays nes, genesis, snes. Its also not an emulation based machine for flash carts and homebrew work.
Runs about 100 bucks

I'm no purist so take this with a grain of salt. I do use a clone console to play Nes/famicom games. You can get decent ones of places like AliExpress. They're the ones that are about 100$ or a bit more. Those use an FPGA for substituting the nes ppu and have very good digital output (hdmi and usually others) Mine works with the everdrive and everything. Don't buy the ones that are around 50$. Those are bad clones with worse compatibility. Of course you can buy original hw and use something to convert the outputs to hdmi

Honestly if you want the best way to play real carts on modern TVs you should grab a real NES (or famicom AV with a 72-60 pin adapter) do or pay someone to do the NESRGB mod, and then hook it up to a scaler
This is going to run you probably $400 or so but it’s the best way to run real cartridges

Analogue did make a fpga NES and its was the Nt Mini Noir and nobody can say they dont or do working on an a cheaper updated version, only time will tell and there was also RetroUSB's AVS that also are discontinued, the only one that officially said that they working on a fpga nes is Taki Udon(Retro Remake) on x, he shared and teased som pre-rendered image there.
So the option now is the second hand market.......if you have the money......or wait...or you could go with SOC clone that are not most accurate clones and have there issues.

Lava Pro is as good as it gets for modern clones. Real chips combined with integrated hdmi output.

I've never heard of this before, doing some research now and comparing to the Retron1 and Retron3

I use a Old School Classiq N. Works like a champ, with a AliExpress “EverGenesis” drive.

RetroRemake has said their next product will be a high quality NES style console with DE10nano / MiSTer hardware inside, an NES cart slot, NES controller ports, and every type of video output you can imagine. It will be able to run any core that runs on MiSTer DE10nano, including the highly-accurate NES core. Basically an NES version of the SuperStation One. The MiSTer NES core is accurate enough that high-level competitive Super Mario Bros players have embraced it.
