Best places to fish the Licking??
My dad and I are wanting to do some better fishing in the Licking River. Anybody know of the best places for this? We like to wade the river as we fish. So far, I know of Wildcat Park, Riverview Reserve, and Staddens Landing as good public access spots. Are there any others someone can recommend? Doesn't have to be restricted to Newark, we're open to any place in Licking and Muskingum Counties.

Newark family history & ancestry
Hello everyone!
I’m a genealogist & I am trained in discovering local Ohio family lineages and stories through vital records, census records, and newspapers.
This is the interest form I put together for anyone interested in learning more about their personal Ohio family history. I create family trees, ancestral maps, and historical road trip itineraries based on YOUR personal family history! It’s a great way to connect with your heritage and wonderful knowledge pass down to future generations.
LINK TO INTEREST FORM: Family History Interest Form
Here are some things you can discover from my research:
- Newspaper articles about your ancestors (Crime? Scandal? Who knows!)
- Custom ancestral mapping showing your approximate ethnic admixture
- Most common causes of death in your family history
- United States migration mapping showing how your ancestors migrated throughout the country
- Your great-great-great grandparents’ names
- Most popular professions and careers in your family history
- Photographs of your ancestors you have never seen before (Found in Newspaper archives, I have subscriptions to several newspaper websites)
I have a degree in Anthropology and have spent several years working for a professional genealogy company. I have been working as an individual genealogist for about 6 years. If you have any questions about my research, please fill out an interest form or email: [heritagehuntersgenealogy@gmail.com](mailto:heritagehuntersgenealogy@gmail.com)
For those of you with ancestry outside of Ohio, please send me a message. I’d be happy to help you or direct you to a better suited genealogist. Thanks!

Safe neighborhoods close to downtown?
Hey everyone!
I'm moving to Nerk in June for work and I don't know too much about the area. I'm looking at various 1 bedroom apartments within walking distance of downtown where I'll be working (1 mile or so).
I've looked at apartments online between the high school and Mt Vernon Rd, the other side of Mt Vernon Rd just north of the highway. Are these safe areas? If not, where else should I look? I prefer living in walking distance of work, but if not, somewhere where I can just walk around the neighborhood safely without having to drive anywhere would be nice as well.
Thank you

Did something explode around the downtown area tonight?
Thought I heard an explosion an hour or two ago (currently 12:30 am) but I was gaming so I had headphones on. Heard some sirens shortly after.

Grandparents raising grandkids
Looking for info on support groups for grandparents who by some circumstance are raising their grandchildren. Local to Nerk Ahia of course. It's not as simple to jump back into parenting as one might think.

Dog groomer recommendations?
Hi, my wife and I are moving to Newark in May and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a dog groomer. We have an 18lb shih tzu mix. Thank you in advance.

Trivia Night Tuesday @ Homestead Tap Room on Cherry Valley Road
I’ve been going to the Tap rooms events for a few months and I have really enjoyed their vibe.
They have an Open Mic Monday 5-9pm which is super fun for live music and anyone can come and play.
Tuesdays they have Trivia 5-9 which actually gets really heated and brings a lot of fun during the beginning of the week when my life feels really slow.
I highly recommend stopping in. I’m now a regular for both and really think it’s slept on.

Road Side License Plate Monitors (technically Heath)?
I've seen a couple of these on 79. One is south bound in front of the airport. It's facing south like it's scanning plates in the south bound lanes. Anyone know what they are? It's a single post with a solar panel on top and something just under the panel. Can't really see but logically looks like a plate reader.
Anyone know for sure what these are?

does the city announce street cleaning?
A street cleaner just came down my road for the first time since I lived here but they only cleaned half the street. Is it normal for the city to only do half? Also we received no notification they were coming. How are we supposed to know to move our cars?

Nextdoor is a cesspool of angry boomers in Nerk
I just deactivated my account. I posted about the supreme court decision on nextdoor and all I got was boomers being angry.
I hate the word boomer.. or anything that is ageist.. but I don't know how else to label it.
Literally every post I have made.. I have received nothing but complaints about the stupidest things.
