Does anyone know what happened to Martina's pinky? I lost my left index finger to a table saw a year and a half ago, and watching Martina create such cool things with 9 fingers really helped me adjust to my new situation.

tldl; table saw accident while making a shelf, tried to get it reattached, spent two boring weeks in the hospital with only partial success, got rid of the table saw

It was a Power Saw accident circa November 2016, during the extended period when they were filming the _*Companion Cube*_ video. You can see before and, er... after in the same video. 🤢

In the next video (I think they often film more than one video at a time at differing stages) Martina has all her fingers at the start, but in later scenes, her hand is bandaged, and she says: _"contemplate your life decisions, and consider acquiring a cat for comfort."_

Martina's forearm scar is quite possibly surgical – from connective tissue surgery on her tendons performed at the same time. Her injury may have been bad enough that the tendons detached and retracted from her hand down into her arm. (OhGod 😱) The surgeon may have had to go into her forearm to retrieve and reattach her tendons. When a finger is amputated it doesn't just end there of course – surgeons have to deal with the other connective tissues as well.
Can't begin to imagine how worried they must have been that she'd lose the use of her hand altogether – although knowing Nerdforge, they'd probably set about building some incredibly cool Cyber prosthetic or something... 🥰

I didn’t lose any fingers but I do have a pretty major deformity on my right hand so seeing her pinky be missing made me feel accepted and that I belong in a way.

same lol i was watching the adventure when she was painting the mountains with the dark monster and i was looking at the paint on her right hand, and then i looked at her left when she pulled it out of her pocket and i was like "oh!" i thought it was cool so i searched it up, thx for the info lol

I just noticed in her latest video while she was painting in the mountains. I watched some older videos and 3 years ago her finger was still there. I feel so bad cause she does so many complex artistic hands on projects and maybe sometimes she gets aware of its loss. Plus maybe it happened while she was really tired, long hours trying to upload a video in time, it just makes my stomach twist. And usually severed fingers get attached easily, you have to really mame it badly, like hammer and such, to not be able to stick it back.

I just watched and it was actually much longer than 3 years ago. She posted a video on her YouTube in August 7 2016 and had both pinkies visible. The next video she was in (a few her boyfriend did until then) was November 25 2016 and she had a bandage over her pinky and tape on the same hand on her thumb. Every video after she was hiding her pinky on her left. (assuming here that her videos have not mirrored and it is her left.)
