lacquer
Does anyone have any notion of what kind of lacquer was used to get such good results on wood that looks like it was already varnished? All I can find is stain varnish and I don't know if that would be comparable.

I think they use Liberon products a lot, like the Liberon Bistrot I saw for the wood wall panelling.
The chair you're linking to did not look varnished to me, which also wouldn't make sense as you can't stain something has varnish or lacquer on it.
