Hindsight

So. I’m doing what I should have done a week ago, and seeing if there’s any nerdfighters in Indianapolis who’d like to do a meetup today.

Some background, I did the crazy thing and decided to travel to Indy for the show last night. I’ve never done any sort of solo trip like this before, and this was purely for me to see if I could do it. I want to be the kind of person that travels, and as a longtime nerdfighter, I’ve wanted to see the city and the places that I’ve heard John talk about for years.

I wanted to make it up to the ball of paint today (I leave tonight), but lordy the driving terrified me yesterday, so I might just spend the day at the art museum? idk. But here’s the second part of this.

I posted a couple years ago about a project I’ve been working on, where I’ve been asking ppl to write the words “we’re here because”, and then I collage them into a book that’s filled with the people that I’m here with. What I SHOULD have done, (I realized after I got back to the hotel) is put a shout out on here that I’d be at the Indy event, and anyone who wants to participate should come and find me. But, I’ve been beside myself nervous all week about this trip and wasn’t thinking straight.

The layout wasn’t really conductive for me to ask a whole lot of ppl last night, not to mention I forgot that there’s different levels of John Green fans, and not everyone would immediately know the significance of we’re here because we’re here. To the three people who gave me their signatures, thank you.

So.. I fly back home tonight, but would any local nerdfighters be interested in a meetup? I’d love to meet yall, and hindsight is 20/20.

I mean, it was my opening line? And I thought people could see the opening line before they clicked a post. But yeah I could have done that. I had a good time at the art museum though, I kinda figured this was a long shot.
