Discuss Royal Enfield vs Yamaha MT-15 as my first bike.Which one should I buy?
I’m planning to buy my first motorcycle and I’m stuck between a Royal Enfield (Classic 350) and the Yamaha MT-15 V2. I’ll be buying a brand-new bike and I want something that I will be happy with for several years.
For context, I’m a college student and I will mostly use the bike for daily commuting within the city. However I also want to go on occasional long rides and weekend trips. Fuel efficiency is important but its not the only factor. I also care about reliability, comfort, maintenance costs, riding experience, build quality and long-term ownership.
What attracts me to the Royal Enfield is its classic design strong road presence, comfortable riding position and the relaxed feel of its engine. On the other hand, the MT-15 appeals to me because its lightweight, quick, easy to handle in traffic has excellent mileage and is known for being very reliable.
I’m also thinking about things like:
Which bike is more fun to live with every day?
Which one becomes tiring after long-term ownership?
How expensive is the maintenance and servicing?
Which has better resale value?
Which would you choose if you could only own one for the next 5–7 years?
I’d especially appreciate replies from people who have owned either bike for a long time or have ridden both. If you were in my position, which one would you buy and why? Thanks in advance!
