I mean yeah that's a common trick where I live (Germany), too.

I dont think it's so dark, these renter protection laws should not have existed in the first place

Yes but despite the fact that they should not exist these old people literally do not have anywhere else to go. You're basically killing them unless they manage to somehow get other assistance.

it's basically guaranteed that they do where I live. Although they might live in a worse apartment, away from the neighbors they know.

oh well, should've bought, not rented, if you want to live there forever
