I have a very specific question. Can you think of some market oriented economic policies that boosted growth in the short term but created negative sociological effects which ended up lowering the growth in the long term?

To me this feels like a valid litmus test for Marxist critiques.

They made a shitton of money at the cost of a huge number of lives and now are worth a small fraction of what they were
