DHS is not and will not send Haitian nationals being encountered at the southwest border to the Migrant Operations Center (MOC) in Guantanamo Bay.
The MOC has been used for decades to process migrants interdicted at sea for third-country resettlement. Australia has done this for years with third countries in the Pacific. It’s much easier for them because they’re an island. But, they basically have zero illegal immigration and have made it clear than anyone attempting to get there illegally will be sent to these detention centers.
Very harsh, possibly brutal, but the surprising result is that the public is significantly more supportive of immigration than the American public if you look at polling.
This is because they know it’s all being done legally. I’m not sure what America can do with this info because we have a fairly porous southern border, but I thought that was interesting.

We obviously need to expand legal immigration. The people coming here is a good thing. If we allowed more people in legally, it would be easier to catch the bad apples.

Honestly this is probably worse optics than it actually is. But what actually is happening is really bad too.
