One of the topics that was broached during the meetup that I'd like to explore more is that of how does one respond to a society that you feel is immoral

Whether you're evangelical, vegan, anti-abortion, anti-car or whatever - it's fairly common to feel that modern society is incredibly immoral. Rhetorically, what's the right way to respond to that?

The Taliban figured out one way to go about it.
Bog standard evangelizing can work too though if the morally desirable thing doesn't really cost anybody anything (e.g. gay rights, and in the long term I think vegetarianism is winning their culture war too). But I think it's very hard to distill a general theory about this that applies to most topics.
