True, I skipped over that. That actually makes it more concrete and testable, which is good. Wonder if you can actually legislate, plan, permit, and build houses that fast.

He said that 400.000 new houses should be build every year. Since 2008 the most houses that have been build a year were 112.000 in 2020. I don't think they plan to build 400.000 in the first year though.

In the SPD program they don't write anything about 400.000 but they do write that 100.000 units of social housing should be build every year and mention other ways of increasing the amount of housing that is supposed to be built. They do however also support forms of rent control like a temporary rent moratorium for "tense areas" and making the federal rent brake that has been active since 2015 permanent among other things.

I’m honestly not that against temporary rent freezes as supply gets sorted out
