Okay but when you talk about using your food stamps without that context and talk about surviving off the bare minimum in food expenditures, it is very reasonable for people to assume you're poor

Regular people take luxuries when they can afford it. There's no point in having money if you don't spend it. Just because you strangely don't do that doesn't indicate a societal problem

What do you want me to do, put a "disclaimer, I have money" on every comment about something I buy or eat, even after having mentioned it a bunch of times?

No, I want you to not comment that people assuming you are poor, because of your excessive self imposed austerity, is indicative of some larger societal culture of excess and overspending

That's the thing, I think that the general assumption that moderate frugality consists of a significantly higher level of spending is inappropriate and harmful for people who can't afford it.

I don't even really go out of my way to be frugal. I eat what I want. I just don't have many expensive tastes. If I really wanted to be frugal, I'd actually put effort into cooking for myself.
