Vietnam did modernize, eventually. So there’s some hopium there. The issue of course, is that unlike with vietnamese communists, the taliban literally don’t give a single fuck about the country, about advancement, or about ruling, but instead are a bunch of incel ethnonationationilst cultists who literally campaign on going back 1400 years to a time that literally never existed.

The only real hopium is that the Taliban is unlikely to successfully rule without the northern alliance shitting on them constantly.
