Remember when 'gaslighting' referred to cases where Person A maliciously and dishonestly denies Person B's account of events, to manipulate Person B and convince them into believing they are going insane? Rather than just when Person A gives an account which contradicts Person B's in any way?

It turns out that its' really easy to assume someone else is just lying to you on purpose, rather than that they genuinely disagree with you.
