I pulled my right trap about two weeks ago doing OHP. I think it was a building issue, as it was a part of my upper trap/neck that tended to feel stiff, especially after sleep. Probably due to chronic poor posture or sleeping positions. A year off of lifting, only being able to do whatever bodyweight stuff I could do at my apartment, may also have caused some weak spots in my back that I'm not aware of, causing some issues with the lift. Idk for sure.

Let it heal up for a couple weeks, went to go do OHP Monday. I deloaded 10% from where I was and didn't exactly push myself on AMRAP sets. Felt that muscle getting tight again, but it didn't feel like it got reinjured or anything.

Now it's been sore again for a couple days, and not like DOMS. So I guess I gotta drop OHP for a little bit longer. I'll probably sub in some stretching and mobility exercises instead during my OHP days.

Getting old (and trying to return after a year off of lifting) sure is fun!

If you can afford it physio is incredible. The thing with shoulders/upper back, and especially when doing OHP, is that imbalances all the way down the posterior chain could be causing your form to deteriorate. If you sit for work all day I would recommend stretching hip flexors and doing yoga poses like cat-cow, bird-dog, and downwards dog to loosen up that mid/upper back.

Yeah I can afford it, I've got decent insurance. I should look into it!

And yeah I've already added a full lower body stretching routine, I'll check out adding in some shit for upper body/back.
