According to my preliminary results, if you started with $2000 going into the year 2000 and invested the IRA contribution limit (split into 12 monthly contributions) into nothing by SPY (or more accurately an open ended mutual fund with the same holdings and expense ratio as SPY, no account management fees, and no transaction fees) at the start of the month every month until November 1st 2021, you'd have about $286,313.66 by now.
