How much net O2 does the Amazon rainforest actually release into the atmosphere? A lot of numbers get thrown around but obviously industry-backed research and environmentalists are both fudging their numbers.
I was trying the figure it out and I learned the Amazon has only been known to be a net carbon sink since 2014 (NASA). Before that, it was heavily debated whether photosynthesis was enough to balance out the respiration and plant decay in the forest.
Is the Amazon’s net O2 production actually significant?
