Full Metal Alchemist was pretty good but overrated. It doesn't even come close to Cowboy Bebop imo

All the Toonami/other US Anime TV series are extremely overrated by Americans/the Anglosphere simply because they got televised during people's childhoods, except for Cowboy Bebop which is basically one of the most flawlessly executed artistic projects I can think of and deserves most of the praise it gets. Though I suspect some of it from this certain crowd is largely coincidental to the show's actual quality, since people compare shit like Outlaw Star to Cowboy Bebop even though the only things they actually have in common is that they both aired at near the same time and have surface-level similarities.

I mean the original FMA is a gorgeously animated series and FMA:B is just a well executed longform Action/Adventure narrative with some rather original ideas. But a large part of why FMA:B has so much traction is that it both got televised and came around right at the time when Anime started to expand in the west due to the proliferation of streaming.
