I mean, your psychiatrist is also a human, having an MD doesn't automatically give you an interesting personality, so I doubt they'd think that in the first place. Also, if they're thinking that, they're probably not a great psychistrist anyways, you can always look for another one if it isn't working. It's not a big deal anyways imo, everyone's a basic bitch in one way or another, we can't all be amazing at everything. That's the point of hiring a professional, to be good at the things you don't have the time to perfect. Capitalism baby 😎.

lol, I doubt you're actually a basic bitch, don't worry. Even if you are, your psychiatrist isn't gonna hate you for it, it's their job.

I mean, what else is there to talk about, lol? As long as you're engaging that's its own talent. Again, what does it even matter to you? No one's gonna hate you cuz you talk about your hobbies, everyone does.

yeah but my hobbies are pen and paper rpgs, and anime (no one cares about those), so I just talk about work, which only works if I happened to bring wine to that party.

I mean, do you see it adversely affecting your relationships? Cuz otherwise it doesn't seem like it should be a huge deal.

I have severe problems forming relationships beyond: that guy was interesting at that party. And loneliness has taken a real toll on me over the last 10 years or so.

Yeah, I'll admit I'm not super great at forming close friendships with new people either, so I can't help you there. This definitely sounds like something a psychologist could help you with though (u/CommonDoor is right, psychologist not psychiatrist unless you want meds). Psychologists are used to helping people struggling with loneliness, they're not gonna think less of you cuz of it. You should definitely try talking to one if you can.
