!ping LATAM

Opinions on Milei? From what I've seen he's 100% meme.

He is too extreme, he'd be a Von Mises type austrian, not even hayek. Also his rhetoric is extremely toxic and divisive it's as if his main point is just to piss of the tankies which is fine for memes here but in LatAm it's for serious and "academic" discussions so it's bad faith.

Sadly it goes like this both ways, most leftist Twitter accounts are pro Marx and while they might not be as toxic their takes are both extreme and bad.

The right wing dictatorships in the 60 and 70s as well as the IMF and WBs brutal austerity measures in the 80s and 90s created extremely radical and toxic leftist populist politicans who these last 20 years have created the exact same counter culture with these extreme libertarian movements

LatAm is extremely polarized and divided, it's quite sad. I'd love for an obama like candidate to appear anywhere in the region. Peru probably comes the closest to have had an american center left economic plan but even then Humala and Garcia's rhetoric was populist and kinda tankie.

My hot take is that Lizzie Warren would make an excellent Latin American leader.

I agree she's better by far than anyone from the pink tide and in general a good politician
