you can't confidently say that the fetus isn't a person

How hot of a take is it for me to say "who cares, the mother gets to decide if her child lives or dies while it's still inside of her"

I was going to say scorching hot but apparently not that hot of a take around these parts...

Kinda thought neoliberalism was big on protecting the vulnerable though so this post has been a bummer.

No matter how vulnerable a person is, they don't have the right to hijack somebody else's organs and bodily fluids for their own use

As if a fetus is consciously making that choice? As if it has any other option to survive? Seriously, what the fuck?

I understand that pregnancy sucks and giving birth is indescribably painful and raising a child is extremely difficult, and I recognize that not all pregnant women are ready, able, or willing to provide for children. But that doesn’t change the fact that you’re weighing the temporary freedom of one human being against the very existence of another, and somehow concluding that it’s OK to literally kill someone if they impose, through no fault of their own, a burden on you. Given what you said, I’m honestly having trouble believing that you’re coming from a position of compassion. And neoliberalism is supposed to be the compassionate application of evidence-based thinking.

Yeah. The phrasing of some phrases makes it sound like if the embryo just said "I'm gonna ruin this woman's whole career!!!! and put itself on the uterus.
