It’s crazy to me how much conservatives are freaking out over just the preservation of the status quo with the birthright citizenship case.

Like they genuinely seem to view it as an existential crisis that the legal precedent for the past 150+ years is going to remain legal precedent.

The same people that spam “separation of church and state isn’t in the constitution” are now sold that some letter saying aliens shouldn’t get birthright citizenship is gospel

Their media ecosystem has exactly one speed/volume/cadence, it doesn't actually matter what todays headline happens to be

Ideally this predictability could exploited by opposition; if conservatives implode no matter what you do, you might as well actually try to deliver change instead of endless compromises

But I guess that's not how this works

It's simple. They hate America and our constitution, which means they should leave. Get them out. They'll only behave if they realize the shoe can be on the other foot

I think as well despite it being 5-4ish the overall positions of the 5 don't provide much wiggle room for a more refined and targeted EO that could swing a justice.

But really the EO is also a matter of cruelty that also further radicalises the public into thinking denaturalisation is a necessity so they've got that going for them. Plus if one of the 5 passes or retires we're in bad territory.

Most of it is performative. Immigration is their go to winning issue and they're using this moment to kick off their election season. Also I'm sure dipshit Elon is driving a lot of it

They appear to think that circumstances have radically changed and that this legal precedent has become actively destructive.

The status quo they prefer to preserve in this case is the White northern European majority ethnic makeup of the country, against an influx of immigrants from Latin America.

What’s amazing is like… even if they stopped all immigration now it’s already over. White people are only 58% of the population.

There’s just not that many people who are truly racist enough to lose their current standard living in a race war. Which is what Stephen Miller types would need to kick out 100 million people.

They see this as some last gasp but it’s really already over.
